‘Jesus Loves Me’

How about a little back to basics? Jesus Loves Me was the first hymn I ever learned–in between visits to that wonderful sand-box they had in Sunday school kindergarten. And I used to ride my bike along a woodland path, just like the one in this video. Oh, I miss that!

Sung by Rosemary Siemens.

By Request, ‘Jesus Loves Me’

For many of us, Jesus Loves Me was the first hymn we learned in Sunday school–if we hadn’t already learned it at home. Sung here by Rosemary Siemens… but I think it really ought to be a very young children’s choir…

Requested by Ina.

Remember–‘Jesus Loves Me’

Anyone can fall into the trap of making Christianity complicated.

Jesus Loves Me is a hymn we learned as children. Its simple lyrics are at the heart of our faith. Growing up, all the cares of this world–yes, it’s easy to forget. But what was true for us when we were three years old is true for us today, no matter what our age.

Remember! Remember.

Hymn, ‘Jesus Loves Me’

This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. John 15:12

I have to rush off to the doctor, so let me start the day with the first hymn I ever learned–the one that carries in it the most important lesson that you or I will ever learn.

See you later.

Reader Request, ‘Jesus Loves Me’

Joyce, you couldn’t have made a more welcome request today! Jesus Loves Me–yes!

When I was five years old or so, Jesus Christ My Lord was as real to me as my next-door neighbor. How I wish I could recapture that much faith! It felt more like knowing than believing. Thank you, Ma and Dad, grandparents, and all my aunts and uncles! It was you, all of you, who taught me this.

To enter the Kingdom of Heaven, you must become as little children. Jesus said so.

It is said (the story may be apocryphal) that the eminent theologian, Karl  Barth, when asked to lay out the substance of his belief, simply sang Jesus Loves Me.

You can’t do better than that.
