Church Offers ‘Star Wars Nativity’

Please, say it ain’t so! I’m afraid it is, kid.

Right here in my home state of New Jersey, a five-church outfit called Liquid Church–is that anything like liquid lunch?–has set up nativity scenes with Star Wars characters instead of the Holy Family ( http://www.phillymag.com/ticket/2015/12/09/star-wars-nativity-new-jersey/ ). Exit Mary, replaced by Princess Leia. Exit Joseph, replaced by Han Solo. And so on.

Why have they done this? Says the pastor, “As a church, we want to be dynamic, engaging, and culturally relevant.”

Sounds like an epitaph to me. Inscription on the tombstone of a dead and buried church: “We were culturally relevant.”

God save us.

  1. I saw an article about this a couple of days ago and was left speechless and shaking my head. Please, Lord, Savior of the World, come quickly! The moral decay seems to know no bounds.

    1. Makes one wonder what the liquid is – maybe they drank the koolaid or could it be something a bit stronger? Either way, their senses seem to be a bit on the dull side.

  2. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
    Romans 12:2.

  3. I’ve no idea what this church is trying to communicate. This nativity scene is not even cute. The above comments sum it up. We are not to be conformed to this world but to be salt and light in this dark world. We are to be in the world but not of it. Pilgrims passing through bringing the Good News of the Reconciliation between God and Man through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. Dear Lord, please open the eyes of these churches that they may get back on the right track of following You. Thank You.

  4. If Jesus didn’t die for my sins, why would I want to go to one of these “churches” in the first place?
