It will still be some months before I’ll be ready to write my next Bell Mountain novel, but I want to start psyching myself for it now.
And so I imagine an epic series of movies, no holds barred, and entertain myself by finding actors to play the host of characters involved. A lot of the major characters are children, though, and the right child actors for these parts have yet to be discovered. So I just cast for the adult roles.
Here are a few of my executive decisions so far.

Villains (I’ve got the bad guys all lined up–don’t ask me why)

Ysbott the Snake: Wes Studi (Magua in The Last of the Mohicans)

Obst the Hermit: Max von Sydow
Szugetai the Horse Lord: Toshiro Mifune
Prester Jod: Martin Shaw
Chagadai the Ghol: Eli Wallach
Chief Xhama: Ken Gampu
Well, that’s as far as I’ve got. Looks like my readers will have to help me out! Which you can’t do, I guess, unless you’ve read the books. Some of them, at least. Be especially on the lookout for an actress in her late teens to play Queen Gurun, a most important and challenging role.
Okay, so, I am not sure what this is about.
Are we choosing different actors we know in real life, to match them up with Bell Mountain characters, just for fun?
Yes, just for fun. I don’t want anybody thinking this movie actually exists.
Alright then, Gurun could be played by Georgie Henley (Narnia~Prince Caspian, Disney).
Hmm… As I see her, Gurun has more “gravitas” than Ms. Henley can generate.
I can’t think of anybody else who could play Gurun…
Except actors in popular movies like The Hunger Games, or Disney.
I’m at a disadvantage here because I don’t see many new movies.
They had a great kid playing Eustace in “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,” but they hemmed and hawed so much over the next movie that he has since outgrown the part.
And Jack could be played by Billy Unger (The Lost Medallion, Bridgestone Multimedia) (?).
The Thunder King could be played by anybody…
Well, considering that he’s usually behind a mask…
I don’t know why not very many bloggers are interested in this; it is a very good idea.
It’s because not that many people have read my books. I wish there was something I could do to get more readers, but I’m out of ideas.
Well, you could ask all of your fellow bloggers to share your blog and books on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and ask others to re-share. And then, after a while you might sell a few copies. That’s what I’m doing.
Thanks for the tip–I still haven’t learned to think in terms of social media, so there’s a resource left untapped. I’ll try to do that.
