Prayer Request: Our Prodigal Country

[The prodigal son left his father] and there wasted his substance with riotous living… and he began to be in want… And when he came to himself, he said… I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned…  Luke 15: 13-14, 17-18

Please join me in prayer for our country. In all my lifetime, there has never been a time when we needed saving prayer as we need it now.

Our Father in Heaven, we, like the Prodigal Son in Jesus’ parable, have turned away from you, have followed our own desires, and have wasted our substance. What kind of folly have we neglected to perform? What sin have we left unsinned?

Lord, move us to come to our senses, like the Prodigal Son did. He left his folly, went back to his father, and was saved. Move us to come back to you, and be saved: for only you can save us.

We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. I can certainly say amen to this prayer. since these are the days of repentance as commanded in Scripture, this is one of the best times ever
to pray in this way. Every day is appropriate to repent and pray, but these days up to Yom Kippur are especially pertinent.

  2. Likewise, I will state amen. In Jeremiah 29, the Jewish exiles were instructed by God to 7 ‘Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf; for in its welfare you will have welfare.’ Our ultimate solution lies in the Kingdom of God, but as long as we are exiled to the wicked environment of our day we must seek to make things as favorable as possible.

That having been said; why would anyone go on Howard Stern? I hate t think that the course of history could be altered because of that uncouth, un-groomed mook. (look it up: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=mook&defid=1567413) But, at least to my sensibilities, this speaks volumes about what our civilization has accepted in the name of entertainment and the consequences of that acceptance. We, as a culture, have buried ourselves alive using shovels bought on credit. If there were not a Higher Power and a Higher Purpose we’d be doomed.

    1. Very well said. We have to do the best we can–and that means not letting Hillary Clinton be president: not under any circumstances.
If she were running against a fire hydrant, I vote for the fire hydrant.

  3. Likewise, Amen! to the prayer, and to all that’s been said.

Lamentations should be required reading, and rereading, for every single person In this country who can read. And for those who can’t, have someone read it to you! The picture Jeremiah paints of a nation under judgment is not a pleasant one – but it’s coming.

Just to add to my list of things, Lee, I broke my wrist a few days ago (wrist, thumb and first two fingers). Typing is very slow and difficult (mostly one finger lol).

    1. Patty will appreciate this: lifting a very heavy crock pot filled with dinner with one hand while trying to dish the food out with the other. Needless to say, it was a bit too heavy and twisted, having no mercy on my hand 🙂

    2. Ugh! You should’ve seen the look on her face when Patty read that. Not to mention the look on mine. *sigh* Accidents will happen. We pray for you.

    1. Not that I would put it past totally amoral people to fake a tape–but I say that if a ridiculous thing like that gives anyone grounds for accepting a Hillary Clinton presidency, then that person is a self-righteous dunce.

    2. Indeed! Sure, elect a criminal. If this nation elects that cackling abortion loving criminal hag, then I’m afraid we deserve what we get. And if that’s the outcome, God’s children better start praying for a Goshen wherever they are. People! Repent! Turn to our ONLY Savior – Our Lord Jesus Christ!
