Cats & Dogs & Snow

I do wish I could remember the first time I saw snow. Well, I wouldn’t’ve been a full year old by then, so it’s kind of hard to remember that that far. Oh, well. There are a lot of things I don’t remember.

My wife says I already ran this video once before, but I don’t remember doing that. And anyhow, it’s fun to watch.

  1. Thanks, Lee. Did the trick 🙂 Flu bug’s got me down, but these cuties prancing in the snow gave me a smile.

    1. Some years ago, I was sick for New Year’s: a bad cold. And everything outside was frozen solid. But what really cheered me up was when my crickets started singing on New Year’s Day. I had a little aquarium for crickets. Used to keep them as turtle food, but soon got attached to them: the turtle could always eat what I was eating. Anyway, our pets are good for us–even if they’re only crickets.

    2. So true. God sure knew the gift He was giving us when He made animals.

When we were young, my little sister had a pet turtle, Alvin, who would sing along when my mother sang as she did her housework. He would go to the top of his ramp, stretch out his neck and really belt it out! Until then, I had no idea turtles made any sound at all, but Alvin could’ve been an opera star 🙂

    3. I’ve had lots of turtles, and none of them ever made a sound. The books say it’s impossible. But you’re not the first person who’s told me they had a singing turtle–in fact, you both used the word “singing”–and I believe you. The one turtle I was told about was a desert tortoise. You wouldn’t remember what kind of turtle Alvin was, would you?

The books also said slowworms couldn’t make a sound; but my slowworms occasionally made a soft peeping noise.

Goes to show you what the experts know.

    4. Unfortunately, I don’t know what kind of turtle Alvin was. The best I can do Is tell you he was about the size of a young red-eared slider, and about the same color minus the red ears. And he loved hamburger 🙂

    5. Also, it occurs to me that Alvin only sang with my mother – to one particular song. Once he began responding, she would sing it on purpose and he sang with her every time. It had some very high notes. I wonder if that’s what inspired him?

    1. Thank you so much, Erlene. God bless you. You and your family are in my prayers always.
