A Bad Day Gone Good

Solon would remind me that it’s not yet 2:00, and there’s plenty of time left for the day to go wrong; but I’m not in the mood for that advice.

When I went into Motor Vehicles this morning and saw how crowded it was, my heart sank. Imagine how delighted I was when I was in and out of there in only half an hour. The state employees were both efficient–a miracle!–and courteous, and it took me longer to drive there it did to renew my license: complete with picture that, alas, looks kind of like a mug shot.

I then had time to take my bike to the shop, and was pleasantly surprised again when the guy did the whole job in twenty minutes. The cause of the blowout, he was pretty sure, was a defective tire.

I even had time to make my ride, and enjoy a cigar afterward, before lunch. How about that!

Days like this only come along so often, so enjoy them when they do.

    1. Lord, see your servant, Unknowable, – whom You know – through this stressful day. In Jesus’ Precious Name. Amen.

  1. What good news, Lee. We all need a day with good outcomes now and then. God’s blessings are new every morning. Now, top it off with a relaxing cigar and what more could one want 🙂

How has your Aunt Joan been doing these days? She remains in my prayers, as do you and your family.

    1. Thank you, Linda. As Joan’s life savings run out, we are seeing an ever-increasing involvement of the bureaucracy in our lives. If Patty and I were younger, and going out to full-time jobs every day, I can’t imagine how we could be expected to cope with all these demands on our time. Paperwork galore. And they want us gallumphing all around New Jersey to meet with this or that bureaucrat. I don’t know how we’ll fare, once they really get going at us.

    2. Bureaucracies were formed to drive us crazy and wear us down so that we give up and they ‘win’. One thing they haven’t counted on is Our God is bigger! Take heart, kind sir. He will get you through.

  2. I hear you on this word, Lee. After my husband passed away, it was chaos. I know it could have been a lot worse, because I was able to cash out a 401K, then I got some help from the VA, and after a time, a better health care facility.
I know what you mean about the surprise at the license bureau. The same thing happened for me last time I went there. Absolutely amazing. I know the Lord is beside us if we ask for His help.
Sorry about your day, UnKnowable. Chin up, it will get better. I will pray.

This is nothing more than a very busy day. Not fun, but hardly a tragedy.
