I don’t know why no one seems to perceive that God is chastising our whole Western civilization–chastising us in the kind of destructive idiots He raises up to be rulers over us, and in the increasingly vain and empty-headed exercise which we still call “higher education.”
At Carlton University, they’ve taken the scales out of the gym because, in the words of one student, “Scales are very triggering” ( https://townhall.com/columnists/michaelbrown/2017/03/14/what-this-campus-has-done-is-beyond-stupid-n2298659 ). And in the words of the university administration, “Being fixated on weight does not have any positive affect [note the misspelling: has Joe Collidge been promoted?] on your health.”
Wanting to get in on the act, Bucknell University has taken away the mirrors, because mirrors are bad for “body positivity.” And to think I’ve lived this long, only today to hear of “body positivity.” Where has this concept been all my life?
Yo, Western world, wakey-wakey! God is mad at us. Does anybody really, truly think it’s a good idea to turn millions of young people into totally dysfunctional wastes of space?
You know what scares me the most? The strong suspicion that we are still a long, long way from even realizing that we’re being chastised for our sins, let alone from actually repenting and turning away from them, turning back to God. The fear that the fun has only just started: we’ve only seen the warmup tosses–wait’ll we get the high hummer right between the eyes.
Remember us, O God, who have been praying for our country, that the people would come back to their senses. Father in Heaven, for Jesus’ sake have mercy on us, and bring us back to sanity–before the full bill comes due. Amen.
So let me get this straight, “being fixated on weight does not have any positive affect (SIC) on your health. OK, I agree, the fixation on weight does no good; fixations tend to be negative. However, being overweight can have disastrous effects on one’s health and thusly, I endure the triggering event of weighing myself every morning to monitor my weight and, hopefully, keep it in the healthy range. Might I add that I do this daily without having any Pla-Doh in arm’s reach. If I’m not happy with the results I just have to gnash my teeth. 🙂
We are creating a generation of people that will grow up to be emotionally crippled and hopelessly dependent upon others.
If one works out in a gym in an effort to lose weight, taking away the scales can hardly be helpful.
Play-Doh might work, though.
Maybe this is an outgrowth of there not being any absolute truths. If you self-identify at a certain weight, then that is all that matters. 🙂

That probably explains the obesity epidemic, the diabetes epidemic, etc. Somehow, our bodies don’t care about relative truths; bodies deal in absolutes.

Uh, okay… Let someone offer a $10,000 cash prize to any man who can prove that he can and does menstruate. And being a woman done up as a man won’t count. Let’s see how long it takes for any man to claim the prize.
Like I said today, this is chastisement from God–and we’re not learning from it.
And I fear many will not learn from God’s chastisement until The Wrath Of The Lamb is come!
I think that they are being given enough rope to hang themselves. When God’s judgment comes, there will be a lot of people wishing they had acted differently, but they’ve proven their true intention by their works.
The way I see it, it’s really a war on reality, at this point. I agree completely with you Lee, I believe that this is chastisement from God. 2 Thess 2:10-12 comes readily to mind. “They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.”
Something is going on all around us, and it isn’t normal. It seems to be pervasive and it seems to be widespread, whether it’s a tinhorn dictator threatening the most powerful country on earth, politicians acting like children, or dreck like this.
