Why do I get the feeling that his definition of “nasty, mean ideas” would be very different from mine?
Mr. Berners-Lee also seems surprised that people are “broadly parochial” and prefer to communicate “with others like themselves.” Who’d of thunk it?

“Ideas” come from individual thought. THAT’S what the collectivists are afraid of. The difference between ideas and ideology is another loss of freedom through censorship. Cogito ergo sum…
I’m afraid you’re right, Lee.
We’ve seen the idea of internet censorship coming for a while — first the so-called “Fairness Doctrine,” then the turning over of domains to international control, and more recently Google and Facebook promising to block “hate” posts (by which they do NOT mean left-wing activists or even jihadists). I’d kind of like to think that American ingenuity is still alive enough to find some other means of free speech, though, if the internet is made slave to politically correct ideology.
However, the fact that I said “I’d kind of like to think” instead of “I’m sure” shows how uneasy I am about the way our civilization is going.
All this is troublesome; another way to rattle our cages, but there is a way to peace (at least for a time) and I love to go there. Worship and praise of our Lord is one of the best things in my day.
