Once upon a time a news story like this would have been a national sensation. Today it’s just another bizarre incident, soon to be replaced in the headlines by yet another one.
In a town in Oregon, a man came into a store carrying a severed head and then proceeded to stab a store employee (http://www.kgw.com/news/crime/person-stabbed-at-estacada-grocery-store-officials-say/439651514). The rest of the employees tackled him and held him down until the police could arrive.
It seems they were already looking for this man in connection with the murder of a woman elsewhere in town.
We are not told whose head he was carrying.
Do you think there might be something going kind of wrong with our culture?
This is post-Christian America. Not that we were all that short of murders, years ago. But now these incidents just barely raise an eyebrow. Now we are expected to “accept” and “affirm” behavior that once would have gotten its owner committed to a mental institution.
Go ahead, tell me I’m wrong. I’ll thank you for it. Reassure me that our culture isn’t collapsing wherever you look.
But I say we need to turn around and go back the other way. It may be God will lead us back to sanity. If we listen to Him.
I’m just waiting for the suspect to plead that his initial victim was trans-cranial and he was assisting with the transition. 🙂
The madness is mind-boggling. Satan is on a rampage, and not enough of God’s people are willing to take a stand and declare it to be what it is.

I think that’s the actual plan. Show wickedness up for what it truly is and rescue those whom call upon the True God to deliver them from wickedness.

What she is likely omitting, are the people that come away from these “seminars” emotionally devastated. There was a self-appointed guru in California that used to hold “workshops” to teach people that they weren’t actually monogamous. Some people found out that their mates did not appreciate the fact that they were cheating.
There are people whom practice such a lifestyle, and I suspect that most of them were promiscuous in their younger days and have found that they can’t maintain monogamy because they are addicted to the thrill of casual encounters. Overall, however, I can’t imagine it working out. We are monogamous, and we form attachments. I certainly would not want someone to whom I was emotionally attached to have a sexual encounter with a stranger, and I can’t imagine anyone that would do so, unless it was a way of excusing such behavior on their own part.
One other thing that seems not to make it into articles such as these is that the risk of disease became quite high for people that follow this practice. You can only bend the rules so far before it catches up with you.
I agree with you on all counts, and your last point is one that should give everyone who is contemplating such behavior pause. One of the problems today is a lack of respect – for oneself and for others. And many don’t know or care to know Our Savior. It could be a matter of not wanting to be convicted. Whatever the reasons – or excuses – it spells heartache and doom.
I don’t claim to have any special knowledge regarding diseases but I know that they are opportunistic and will take advantage of any path of transmission. It would appear that the morality of this world is all but extinct at this point and that means that any opportunistic disease that comes along will have an easy pathway to spreading like wildfire.
Fairly recently, in spite of rigorous standards of testing, HIV was transmitted in the making of pornographic movies and the “industry” had to shut down temporarily. Zika should have scared a few people, but apparently it hasn’t. While such diseases have lost their social stigma, they have not lost their physical effect and the potential for suffering is limitless.
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if there were another epidemic, much like the AIDs epidemic of the ’80s. I’m not wishing it, but I see it as a natural consequence to what is going on in abundance these days.
This stuff is so old hat! I mean, it’s got cobwebs on it. Somehow it always seems like it’s the ugly people who want to be swingers. The one in the photo would send me screaming to the sidewalk.
Probably people that had a hard time being popular in high school. 🙂
