Guess What I Forgot!

For the first time in six years–six years, 312 weeks!–I have not written a Newswithviews column. So you won’t see one tomorrow, unless they fill the hole with a “best of.” Which I hope they do, because I rely on those columns to attract readers to this blog.

Normally I write these and send them in on Monday, to be published on Thursday.

This week I never even thought of it until a few minutes ago.

Blame it on the weather: went from freezing to sweltering just about overnight. Blame it on Social Security, which has suddenly discovered new ways of harassing us about Aunt Joan’s finances. Just as soon as I crawled out of the tar pit at the bank, I fell into yet another one. Blame it on the Bossa Nova.

And I just don’t have the gas today to whip up a column on such short notice.

Well, I hope they don’t kick me off the team for missing this one game. But if they do, it’ll be that much more time and energy available for books and blogging.

    1. I guess “The dog ate it” won’t work these days. “The computer ate it” might work.

  1. We all forget things now and then, Lee. And you’ve certainly had more than a few issues to deal with lately, from your aunt’s paperwork to Patty’s poor plant attack to problems with missing comments. Don’t be too hard on yourself. I’m sure NWV will forgive you. We’ll miss your column, but we’ll all look forward to next week’s. 🙂

    1. Without readers coming here from NWV, it’s gonna be pretty lean times tomorrow. *sigh* But there was no way I was going to be able to whip one up late on a Wednesday afternoon.

    2. Well, now it’s Wednesday evening. Do you want me to burn my brain out?
Calvin Coolidge was once approached by a woman who said, “Mr. President, I bet my husband $10 that I could get you to say more than two words.”
      Said Coolidge, “You lose.”

    3. Do it the liberal way. Make up some nonsense that would strain the credulity of a three year old child, make vague references to unverifiable source material and call it settled science. 🙂

  2. I’ve read your articles on newswithviews on a regular basis, although not often…? And I share them on twitter & facebook.

    1. Well, there are over 300 of them sitting in the archive–and thanks for sharing them: I need everybody’s help to get around.

    2. FYI – I emailed links to myself for the archives of certain writers for NWV – yours, Kelleigh Nelson, Jim Khouri and several others, for future reading. Unfortunately, the future isn’t here yet. So I read them as I get them. I’d print them in preparation for full censorship if printer ink didn’t cost more than a $5 solid gold Kruggerand!

    3. I’ve probably ruined the blog’s month of May by missing this latest column.
Anyhow, if you printed out all those columns, you’d need a bigger house.
