Another Sleazy Book I Won’t Review

Image result for images of self-worship

All week long I’m peppered by publicists with invitations to review their clients’ latest books. And some of them–oy, have they got a wrong number!

This week’s offer is a novel about polygamy, touted as “Fifty Shades of Grey for men.” In case you missed it, that aforementioned book was a celebration of sadomasochism. I don’t propose to give the title or the name of the author of this current book–no free publicity for you, sunshine. Besides, it’s only one example plucked out of a multitude.

The publicist enthused about “the protagonist’s quest for the holy grail of sexual fulfillment”–translation: fornication with a lot of different women whenever he pleases–and  called it “an enchanting tale of personal development and fulfillment.” They’re big on fulfillment. I think it means gratification of lust.

Does this sound like narcissistic self-worship to you? Sure does to me.

Why do I even mention it?

Because “entertainment” in all its forms, including dirty novels, is self-education, with the popular culture as the classroom. And nothing we can accomplish in politics or economics will be of any use to us as long as we continue to let our culture disintegrate into pure moral imbecility. A degenerate people will not produce decent leaders or decent public policy.

Kill the culture, and the culture will kill you back.

  1. I must confess that at one time, I had a degree of envy for the sexual freedom of the world around me, although I never allowed myself to be a part of it.

From the perspective of a man in his sixties, I look back on the people I have known over the years and have concluded that there is absolutely nothing to envy about the immorality so prevalent today.

On two different occasions I have had a supervisor whom was cheating on his wife, in one case very openly. I recall a co-worker that had been having an ongoing affair for years, cheating on his wife and making no bones about it. These three characters were probably the three most miserable people I have ever met. They were preoccupied because of this. The two who were supervisors both seemed to spend a disproportionate amount of time on hanging on the telephone. The co-worker would jump through hoops to finagle time off from work so that he could visit his paramour on the way home.

I’ve also met several women whom were immoral by habit and, once again, they didn’t seem to be very happy. One was the girlfriend of one of the bosses mentioned above and she seemed about as pitiful a creature as anyone I’ve ever seen. I don’t believe that she was able to hold a job and lived on handouts. She had a family, a patchwork of children by various fathers. She and her sister were quite prolific in their activities and notorious in their small town. The younger sister proportioned me once without even knowing my name. I don’t think it would be exaggerating to say that both were addicted to the thrill of illicit sex. This was nearly forty years ago; I wonder what their lives are like now.

Other I have known that were perhaps less egregiously promiscuous still seemed to struggle to maintain control of their lives. They didn’t seem happy. In all cases, loneliness seemed to follow. In my humble opinion, this is a consequence of the struggle for control of one’s own life which seems common to women that have been promiscuous.

2 Peter 2:17-20 comes to mind. “17 These are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm. For them the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved. 18 For, speaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely escaping from those who live in error. 19 They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slavesh of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved. 20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.”

The promise of sexual freedom ensnares the inexperienced, but there is no freedom. “Whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.” I believe this is the source of that struggle for control I referenced earlier.

With regard to one of the examples I mentioned above, I am aware, at least to some degree of how things turned out. The first employer/supervisor lost his share of a successful retail business and had to start over with nothing. His wife quite suddenly had her fill of his adultery and acted to preserve her own dignity and sanity. His conspicuous behavior made it hard to defend himself legally. To the best of my knowledge, his family remains fractured to this day and the lovely lakeshore home of his younger days is but a memory. I saw him a few years ago and he immediately started an attempt to hustle into a business deal that would have been to his advantage. It was like taking to a drug addict, but the drug was deceit.

    1. The only freedom humanism will leave us is the freedom to fornicate–and, as you have so ably pointed out, that’s not really freedom at all. It’s only more confusion.

    2. Since my last post, I read an article about the suicide bomber in Manchester, UK. In part it said:

“Born in Britain, he was a fan of the world-famous Manchester United soccer club, like so many 20-something men in the northern English city.

More recently, however, according to neighbors, he was heard “chanting prayers loudly in the street” outside his home, and a friend said he had grown a beard and begun ‘acting strangely,’ the London Daily Mail reported.”

I am arriving at the conclusion that people all over the place are going off the deep end, one way or another. In the west, ‘freedom to fornicate’ seems to be working with a lot of people. In other cultures, it would seem that they move in the opposite direction, but with a twist. Many Muslims don’t have any regard for non-Muslim women (or girls) so they can keep to their strict Islamic moral code, and still act out sexually against
      non-Muslim women.

Satan has been watching humans from day one and knows what works. Our reproductive drive seems to be his favorite means of corrupting humans, although he uses other aspects of our nature against us as well.

Looking back on the examples I mentioned in my earlier posts, I am struck by the fact that one doesn’t get away with anything. Yes, we can use our free will to choose fornication, but there’s always a lingering cost. A fractured marriage, even after the children have grown, will cast a shadow on family events for at least two generations. Viri, such as Herpes Simplex One are not life threatening but certainly unpleasant and can inhibit someone from finding a future marriage partner. Other virility, such as HPV, can result in cancer. Flaunt God’s moral laws and you will pay a price, one way or another.

  2. Want to know something interesting? Jezebel is a male spirit in a woman’s body. She is the head of the infant blood black market and the LGBT movement. Jezebel is a male spirit in a woman’s body. Jesus warned us of the devil’s bride in the book of Revelation.

    1. I guess they want to make jail space for the crimes of Climbit Change Denial, mis-gendering, and microaggression.

    2. That is inhuman behavior and a slap on the wrist will not serve justice. I’d wager that if I robbed a bank, kept the money and argued that the stigma of being a bank robber was punishment enough the courts would not agree. Frankly, if the kid got the 6 years the DA wanted, I would consider that to be light punishment considering the magnitude of the crime.

I wonder how he will fare in prison. Sexual offenders tend to have a rough time in the prison system and it’s not unheard of for them not to survive to the end of their sentence. I can think of few crimes worse than raping one’s own sister.
