An Embarrassment of Poverty

By now you’ve all heard that a bunch of Republican Congressmen were shot at while holding a baseball practice this morning. One of them is seriously injured. The suspect has been arrested, but we have not been told anything about him… other than a report that, before he started shooting, he first asked if the players were Republicans or Democrats.

I didn’t want to write about that because everybody else will be writing about it, so let’s move on to the Global Warming front. The latest Global Warming study has had to be canceled due to too much ice (http://www.nowtheendbegins.com/canadian-global-warming-study-cancelled-unprecedented-ice-formations/).

Or I could write about the loathsome Democrats’ non-stop campaign, in the total absence of any supporting evidence, to convince America that “the Russians stole the election” from Hillary Clinton our once and future president, blah-blah.

Or Duke University shutting down free speech to protect free speech, which is to remain free as long as you say the right things.

This is an embarrassment of poverty. More bad news than anyone can write about and still stay sane.

God help us.

  1. The irony and hilarity of the cancellation of the global warming study is almost too much. When I recover from the hysterical laughter, maybe I’ll take it seriously – right.

    1. IIRC, this has happened on several occasions, of late. Were it not so dangerous it would be as laughable as some of the health fads of the late nineteenth century.

  2. The more I see happening around me, the more convinced I become that auspicious events are taking place. Jesus told the disciples in Matt 24:32 “Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; 33 so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door.” A lot of things are happening all at once.

The event which captures my attention is the sudden appearance of an alliance of Sunni nations in opposition to Qatar. It is the apparent suddenness of this which I find most interesting. The Middle East is in tumult not only because of the Israeli/Palestinian-Arab situation, but also because of a power struggle between Sunnis and Shiites. There were two terror attacks in Iran recently, apparently of Sunni origin.

This new coalition strikes me as a striking development. Even more striking is the reaction of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the ruler of Turkey, whom has stated support for Qatar in this matter. This one absolutely gobsmacked me. I would have thought it more likely that he would take the Sunni side of the matter. In any event, in my humble opinion, this new alliance will work to the advantage of Turkey.

The Climbit Change thing is becoming laughable. I wonder if they are being humiliated from On High. Most of the people I’ve spoken to recently, around the country, have mentioned cool weather and rain. During a recent trip to the midwest the Climbit Change was so severe that I was forced to wear long sleeve shirts and sweatpants at night.

It doesn’t matter what happens at this point, because the advocates of this will interpret whatever happens to their advantage. They’ve got a “heads I win, tails you lose” mentality and will claim that any change in the weather confirms their hypothesis. They can’t outwit their Creator, however.
