Well, here we go again with the “pro-choice” crowd taking away your choices. This time it’s the management of the Orpheum Theater in Memphis, Tennessee, dropping the corny classic Gone With the Wind from its summer movies series because it’s supposedly “insensitive to a large segment of the population.” (http://wreg.com/2017/08/25/orpheum-theater-wont-show-gone-with-the-wind-calling-film-insensitive/)
Remember, “pro-choice” means “no choice.”
Most of the people living in Memphis are black. So what? This movie has been shown at this theater for many years, decades, even, without anyone complaining. Now all of a sudden it’s a problem? Now it’s offensive? Why now, and not twenty years ago, or ten, or five?
I’ve seen Gone with the Wind. It’s gorgeously filmed schlock, with an ending ripped off of Thackeray’s Barry Lyndon, published in 1844. Why anyone should be prevented from seeing it is beyond me. But liberals just love making our decisions for us. They’d like to make ’em all.
As Christians we have no king but Christ. As pitiable worldlings they have no king but Caesar. If Caesar says the movie’s okay for them to watch, they flock to it in droves. If he says it’s not okay, they won’t let anybody watch it.
And who, exactly, is their Caesar?
I think we can figure that out, don’t you?
Great tie-in. They have no king but (figurative) Caesar. They don’t want God rule, they want human rule. They want choice, only if those choices agree with their prejudices.
Good grief! Clearly, it is suspect the concerned individuals expressing concerns to Orpheum Theater were not influenced by the same faction that antimates Antifa. They seem to be targeting anything that can tear American culture, history, and identity apart. Ridiculous…truly.
There’s lots of things I don’t like, but I don’t go around protesting and complaining about them every chance I get. You can “choose” not to be offended. Dealing with a hurricane here in Texas it’s a reminder there’s more important things in life, and being offended by a movie isn’t one of them.
So if we all started complaining about being offended by graphic sex in modern movies, would the theaters hasten to rid themselves of these movies? Ha ha, she laughed wryly. And what of all the mockeries of Christianity and of Christ Himself in various shows and movies? Would the theaters ban those as well, if we expressed offended outrage? Ha ha, she laughed even more wryly.
None of these removals and destructions have anything to do with genuine concern about people’s sensitivities. As they used to say in the SDS and other leftist organizations of the 1960s, “The issue is never the issue. The issue is the revolution.”
I was so hoping this booshwa would never be brought back again…
