I think it’s useful to remember that the phrase “useful idiots” was first used by Russian Communists who were referring to our own American left-leaning professors and media who were publishing nonsense in support of socialism and communism.
One is tempted to remark that they’ve evolved into Useless Idiots; but I suppose they still serve the purpose Lenin had in mind.
