Before I cover any more disgusting and distressing news–if I have to–I’d like to mention something rather more edifying.
The other day, in my car, I passed a house whose owner has put out the most beautiful and spiritually uplifting lawn ornament I’ve ever seen–a lion and a lamb lying down together. It brought to mind a glorious thing.
Our Lord Jesus Christ is both the Lion and the Lamb: the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29); but He is also the Lion of Judah, all-powerful, who has prevailed to open the book and loose the seven seals thereof (Revelation 5:5): King of Kings and Lord of Lords, who was and is and is to come. And He will clean up the mess we’ve made.
And it also reminds us that when God has renewed and regenerated His creation, the lion and the lamb will lie down together in Christ’s Kingdom.
These are promises we have from God Himself, and no power in heaven or earth will prevent Him from doing as He has said.
Every so often, I hear about some animal behaviors (including in the videos you post) which bring to mind the beauty and nobility of the animal kingdom. Even in this fallen world some amazing things happen.
Animals are sincere and honest. Animals don’t lie and they don’t connive. They look out for their own interests, but they are not greedy. Sometimes, when I’ve been worn down by the day’s events, just a visit from my cat brings me repose.
In the restitution of all things we will finally get to see what our Maker had in mind all along. It will be much better for humans and animals.
Some religious folk set in their grandfather’s doctrine preach that no animals will be in heaven because they do not have souls. I do not believe this. Some of the Gnostic texts actually tell us the animals we had dominion over in our flesh shall testify of their treatment in our judgment. Scripture reads the lion will lay with the lamb and the child shall reach his hand in the cockatrice nest. Humans and beasts shall live in harmony as it was in the garden of Genesis in the east of the land of Eden.
Even mother nature herself testifies of the atrocities of man here as do the fowls of the air and the beasts of the field. God is mocked.
I think we will be amazed and delighted by the kinds of animals we see in Heaven.

I like the part of Isaiah 65 where it says in verse 20: “… he who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere youth; he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed.” Can you dig it?
Indeed I can. I’ve played guitar for fifty plus years and I learn something new every time I pick one up. Music theory is the same way, likewise for the electrical and electronic aspect of it and the skills required to record music. I’m nothing special as a woodworker, but I’d love to learn to make fine guitars. That’s about 1,000 years worth of keeping busy. 🙂
I like your perspective, Unknowable. The trick to living a long life seems to be in keeping a healthy mind and body. God promises long life to those who honor their father and mother.
We are here to live our best possible lives and to reflect to the greatest extent possible the Image of our Creator. I use my abilities to do my best at this, and I never fully succeed, but I never fully fail either, because I keep trying.
