Should I Get a Pogo Stick?

Hoping to replicate the joys of youth, I’ve been thinking about acquiring a pogo stick. Once upon a time, I was a regular Tanystropheus on pogo stick. If my mother had ever seen some of the tricks I did, she would have had conniptions. Hoping up and down the football bleachers, for instance: oh, she’d’ve loved that. I wonder if I’m daft enough to try again…

  1. Reminds me of the videos on America’s Funny Home videos. They don’t usually strike me as being funny either.

  2. Skateboarding was a blast as a youngster but now a wipeout would mean a trip to the hospital.
Downhill was my specialty and some hills were meaner and tougher than others but eventually they were all conquered.
At least the youngster in the video isn’t staring at some video screen for hours on end and submerging himself in virtual world.
As the saying goes…youth is wasted on the young and wisdom is wasted on the old.

  3. When I was a kid I found an old pogo stick in an above ground basement. Even then it was a relic of a bygone generation. I knew what it was but I had never seen a real one until then, so of course I had to try it. Just as I had gotten the hang of it, it broke. That was my first and last pogo stick.

    1. I have to agree, whiterabbit. Sometimes our minds think we’re younger than we are 🙂

    2. I grant you I wouldn’t try pogo-sticking up and down flights of stairs, let alone the football bleachers. But what harm could a little boing-boing up-and-down do?
