Elvis: ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’

I’ve figured out what my problem is. There are more Christmas carols than I have readers to request them. Meanwhile, “thewhiterabbit” has asked for O Little Town of Bethlehem. I hope nobody minds my opting for Elvis Presley as the singer. I pay no attention to his rock and roll. But oh, what a voice! And, by all accounts, a man who loved the Lord and didn’t mind using his God-given voice to praise Him.

  1. I have heard many accounts about Elvis’ deep faith and interest in spiritual things. He didn’t like being called The King, because he believed that Jesus deserved that title exclusively. For those whom have never known the privilege, recording sessions involve a lot of idle time, waiting while technical considerations are addressed. Elvis would spend his idle time at a piano singing gospel songs. He was not flawless, by any means, but I believe that he had a heart for spiritual things.

  2. Elvis’ Christian records are wonderful.
At my daughter’s wedding my special dance with her was to “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You” by Elvis. Everybody shed tears as my daughter dried like a baby.
