The hospital just called. Aunt Joan is in critical condition, with a bad infection, low blood pressure, and several other symptoms.
She is the last of my family in her generation. When she goes, I’ll be the oldest surviving member. I confess that I’m terribly afraid of being the last one left.
Please join me in prayer. O Lord our God, do unto my aunt according to your wisdom and your love, and give the rest of us the strength and the faith to trust you. In Jesus’ name, amen.

We’re with you Lee. You’ve done much for your aunt and lived up to your obligations with distinction and courage. I am the oldest in my family to bear the surname of my paternal grandfather and it is something I have not taken lightly. Whatever happens, you’ll be fine and your aunt will never be forgotten by our God.
Dear Lord, may Your will be done, and may Your comfort and strength descend upon Lee and his Aunt Joan in whatever You will for them. Good Physician, bring healing and peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Dear Father in Heaven, we pray in the name of Jesus for Your best blessing, and care for this dear one who is suffering now, as well as for her devoted, caring nephew. We, as weak human beings know how difficult life becomes as we age and infirmities overtake us. Please grant shalom and strength to Lee as he contemplates the future. We who have been there understand. Please send your precious Holy Spirit to go and hover around Lee and his dear Aunt Joan and bring supernatural comfort.

I really admire the prayers being written here. Every one of them shows respect for God’s will.
Dear Lord Jesus, please grant Lee the peace that passes understanding in this trial of his Aunt Joan’s life. We commit her into your healing hands, knowing when the angels take us to Heaven that is the ultimate healing – no more suffering.
Father, as I say Amen to all the prayers offered up here, I pray the Comforter bring peace and strength to your faithful servant, Lee, and to all his family. We ask it in Jesus’ Precious Name. Thank You Father. Amen.
Thanks for the prayers, everybody, so far. I can’t help sitting here and dreading the phone will ring.
There is no harder thing to go through than a situation you are powerless to control, or even influence. I can tell you from firsthand experience, and I’m certain that most of us here have been in this situation. My way of coping, in these circumstances, is to remember that it’s beyond my control and not let my mind have its free rein to try and find a solution. The solution is out of your hands, so you can take comfort that you’ve done everything required of you.
You help a lot of people, Lee. You’ve helped your aunt. No matter how this turns out, you’ll be ok. My best to both of you.
Lee, God is a very present Help in time of trouble. I’ll continue to pray for your Aunt Joan. I have a request,too. My sister-in-law, Billie Kaye, is in hospital this night because she attempted to take her life. Thank God, her daughter found her and took her to hospital. Billie is a very energetic 80-something go-getter so this turn of events in her life as really stunned us. Thank you so much.

I just called the hospital, but they were too busy to give me any information. So the last I heard was last night, when they needed my consent to give Joan a unit of blood.
We need each other’s prayers.
