Damned if You Do, Damned if You Don’t

You just can’t please some people.

White folks who take up yoga are guilty of “cultural appropriation”–taking something that doesn’t belong to them–and that makes them racists. According to some jidrool of a professor at Michigan State University. (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-yoga-american-white-supremacy-michigan-state-university-shreena-gandhi-racism-professor-a8185206.html)

But if they don’t do yoga, then they’re rejecting something from another culture, not being properly multicultural–and that, too, makes them racists.

How much are people paying to be “taught” this bilge?

America has too many colleges and looniversities, too many dunderheads “teaching” in them, too many overpaid administrators, and way, way, way too many young people going there to learn a lot of useless, toxic rubbish.

And those who seek to stir up strife among people who would otherwise be at peace with each other, are committing sin.

  1. In her book “Godless,” Ann Coulter calls college/university professors the most cossetted, pussified, subsidized people in the U.S. work force. She also says Liberals defend unreason against reason and call themselves rationalists. You can see why she is not allowed her right to free speech on college campuses.

  2. I wish I had so much free time as some of these people seem to have, to think about things to this extent. She may have a point above the “cultural void of white society”, but only because so many here have excluded the Creator from their lives.

From what I gathered, her beefs were basically twofold, Americans only are interested in the physical aspect of Yoga and Yoga classes are expensive which may exclude “recent immigrants, such as Indian women to whom this practice rightfully belongs.”

OK, fair ’nuff. I’ll start with the simplest one; Yoga is too expensive. OK, start a discount Yoga studio. There’s a lot of vacant retail space around and if the current Yoga studios are gouging, it should be easy to undercut them on price. If, however, one finds that once they account for insurance, utilities, etc. that it’s not so easy to undercut the studios still in business, then the point was never valid.

Most important, by a long shot, is the physical vs. spiritual aspects of Yoga. For the record, I worship the Creator and no one else. I believe He to be revealed in the pages of the Bible and 1 Corinthians 8:5-6 comes to mind: ” . . . For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”), 6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live”. I am not interested in worshipping other gods, period. If I want to stretch and exercise, I will do so only for the purpose of physically caring for my body. I will not “salute the Sun” or offer anything resembling worship to anyone but our Creator.

    1. Meanwhile, I’m willing to stop culturally appropriating judo and kenjutsu, if they’re willing to stop appropriating Western cultural stuff like electricity and air conditioning.
