Libera: ‘Gloria in Excelsis Deo’

No one has requested a hymn today, so I’ll dip into my own internal hymnal and fish out a favorite: Gloria in Excelsis Deo (“Glory to God in the Highest”), sung by the Libera boys’ choir. I like this video because it displays the Latin lyrics–which, if you put your mind to it, you’ll probably be able to understand.

  1. Beautiful! My granddaughter, who’s visiting today, listened too. She’s 3 years old 🙂

  2. This would make for wonderful background music to a Christian film. This Monday the Christian film “Tortured For Christ” is being released. It is based on the book of the same title about Richard Wurmbrand, a Lutheran pastor, who was imprisoned by the Communist Romanian government. For two of those years he was in solitary confinement. When finally released he began the ministry “Jesus to the Communist World.”

  3. Yes, very interesting. I just finished reading about the Wurmbrands and
all the torture they endured for the cause of the faith.

    1. Voice of the Martyrs memorializes it. We subscribe. It makes for grim and sobering reading. We are so blessed in this country: religious liberty is not natural to fallen man. We’re so much better at cruelty and viciousness.
