Following news reports that assorted techies are now taking LSD to increase their productivity, an expert in Spain says taking LSD can reorganize your brain in a “harmonizing” way, “just like improvising jazz musicians,” leading to “more openness” and a greater willingness to try new things (http://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/article203341684.html#fmp). Even if they’re incredibly bad new things.
As if it weren’t bad enough that all our wannabe world-improvers are as crazy as bedbugs to begin with, now they want to give themselves “an extra edge” by taking hallucinogenic drugs.
Is that where all these swell ideas are coming from? Gender fluidity, free money for all, free college tuition for everybody, compulsory exercise at work–they’ve all been doing drugs? Well, that would certainly explain what they’re doing to our civilization.
So let’s all bomb our brains with drugs, and see what we come up with.

I thought this nonsense was dispensed with in the ’70s. I don’t know much about LSD, but the article reinforced what we were warned about, way back in high school, that LSD could have very unpredictable effects. A person could take it time after time with no ill effect and then the next time be profoundly affected for months or years. Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys attributes his mental problems to LSD that he took in the sixties.
The problem is, when someone takes something of this nature, there’s no way to track the effects over the long term. It seems that different people are affected differently, but the artwork that accompanied the story seems quite reminiscent of what was popular in LSD’s heyday.
Recreational use of drugs is something I can’t comprehend. Without our minds being in good working order, our lives cannot go well. People have taken drugs “For creativity, to help with problem-solving, to give them a little more energy,” for generations, but I don’t think that it usually works well for them in the long term. We are made in a certain way and trying to push beyond our natural limitations is not likely to go well. Something has to give.
If you’ve ever listened to a bunch of pot-heads talk, you’ll know that thinking you’re more creative, and being more creative, are two very different things.
The drug communities have been trying to convince the rest of us that drugs are great for decades. Some of those who believed that tripe are parents today, and some are sending their children to schools where there are no doubt teachers who were also in that culture. The ride just keeps getting bumpier.

Like the article says, once you take some LSD you are on a trip and there is no turning back. If scrambling your brain is the way to creativity we can all be artists because what is so hard about swallowing a pill? Albert Einstein refused to drink alcohol because he didn’t want anything effecting his brainwaves. The Bible admonishes to have a sober mind. Being on the straight and narrow is the best place for true creativity because we have the mind of Christ.
I’ve refused to take certain medicines because I won’t allow any messing with my mind.
I’m with you there, Lee. Before I take any new medication, prescription or over-the-counter, I research it to find out everything possible about it. After all that, I make my decision – mostly the decision is a big fat NO these days. The junk they’re putting out now is nothing short of poison!
