This is from a 1974 Columbo episode called “Swan Song,” guest starring Johnny Cash. Actually it’s a Johnny Cash gospel song from 1966, I Saw the Light–and the lyrics are spot on. The backup is a little overproduced for my taste, but it’s a catchy tune with Johnny Cash’s voice and, most importantly, a solid Christian message.
Cash was the real thing. I am convinced that he was sincere in his beliefs.

Great song, great voice. Johnny Cash was a miracle by the Lord — such a past, then such a conversion.
I read a biography of Cash. It told of his mother taking him to a professional singing coach to help Johnny develop his gift. After the first encounter the coach told Cash’s mother there was no need of his services because Johnny had perfect pitch.
