My Aunt Has Died

I just got a call from the nursing home: my Aunt Joan has just died. Apparently she slipped away during the night.

I have no idea what to do. I hope the funeral home can walk us through it.

This was a long time coming, and as of now, Aunt Joan has been reunited with her loved ones in Christ’s Kingdom. For this we give thanks.

I pray the ensuing details won’t be excessively difficult.

  1. Take it a step at a time. There will be tasks to complete. But you don’t have to do everything in one step. Make your arrangements as best you can and if it seems overwhelming, take a step back, go, for a walk, or whatever it takes to relax a bit, then go back to it.

It’s always terrible to have a loss, but there is a much greater hope that we can take solace in. Things will be fine.

  2. I am so sorry for your loss. I have been through this twice with two husbands, and the Lord walks through each step with you, and the funeral home employees are helpful since they are well acquainted with all the details. Knowing your aunt is home now will comfort you. Prayers for your peace go with you.

  3. Heartfelt thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Yes, they all will definitely walk you through it. Your clergy can be helpful as well.

  4. God bless your Aunt. And may He be close to you and your family throughout the coming days.

I lost my daughter and my husband eight months apart in 2014. It was extremely difficult. But then the Good Lord assured me they were both safe with Him!

What comfort our faith gives us. I don’t know how those without faith go on.

  5. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.

Lee, I’m so sorry for your loss. But the people at the funeral home are experienced at walking distraught family members through all the details of what to do next, and they’ll be able to help you through the logistics while you deal with the grief. My prayers are with you and all your family. God bless you.

  6. Oh, Lee and Patty. I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s always difficult for those of us left here, but we take comfort in knowing our loved ones are with the Lord and those who have also gone before. Peace is hers. And I pray peace for you both as well. Arrangements seem to work out somehow. As you know, we’ve just bee through this with Michael’s mom. You’re both in my prayers.

  7. And thank you everyone for your prayers. Our God is faithful to answer and they have truly been a blessing through these last weeks.

  8. I am so sorry for your loss. It is never easy when this happens. Having lost my mom 3 years ago and my dad in November I can so relate. But, whenever I start tearing up I picture them holding hands and walking together in Heaven on their way to sing praises to the Lord. Then I smile.
“Please, dear Lord, give Lee and his family the peace that passes all understanding. In the name of Jesus” Amen

  9. My condolences, Lee…. Like illness, death knows no political party nor hidden agendas nor conspiracy theories. If nothing else, this is the one thing all humans have in common. I’m sure she was a positive influence in your life and will live fondly forever in your own memories. Having conducted hundreds of funerals in my five years in that industry I can say with some small measure of credibility that life does continue… and her passing will bring home in your thoughts regarding just how fragile life really is.
    Hang in there.

    1. I’m apparently a liberal and you are not.. so I am used to being snapped at. 🙂 That’s entirely different.
Take a deep breath.. focus.. there’s no hurry. It sounds like family will take their queue from you.

  10. I am so sorry Lee!! Please Pray for Our Brother in Christ Jesus-Yeshua Lee and his family members and Friends!!

Love Always and Shalom, YSIC \o/
