What Have I Done?

I seem to be making a shambles of this blog today. Somehow my “International Manhunt” post came out twice, in two different forms, and I don’t know how to fix the page.  Sigh.

And then there’s what I haven’t done! Namely, my Newswithviews column, which should have been written Monday or Tuesday, but wasn’t–for the excellent reason that it completely slipped my mind. So I will have to hustle one up today. Somehow.

Let me provide you with a Chalcedon magazine article while I wrestle with this beast.

  1. Lee, I only received one ‘International Manhunt’ post so I don’t know what happened to he other one. You’ll probably be able to tell which one I received when you see my comment. 🙂

    1. I think the page displays differently to me than it does to you, the reader. To me it’s a mess, and I don’t know how to fix it.

    1. In line with my April 25 policy of making a mess of everything, the aforementioned link is not there because I meant to include it in the next post I wrote. There you will see it. Unless that’s gone wrong, too.

    2. You may be relieved to know that the link to Chalcedon IS in the next post 🙂

    1. You’re doing lots of things right. You’ve posted a great hymn for us, you’ve entertained us, you’ve prayed, you’ve been a presence in your home for your wife who loves you — and you’ve probably even managed to walk to and from the bathroom once or twice without any mishaps. 🙂 🙂

Here’s one of my favorite stories about St. Teresa of Avila: Once, when everything was going wrong for her in what she was trying to do, and even in her physical health, she was complaining to God about it, and He said, “Teresa, this is how I treat my friends.” She responded, “Lord, maybe that’s why you have so few of them.” Saints can get away with that sort of thing. When Mother Teresa of Calcutta was told that her sufferings were kisses from Jesus, she said, “Jesus, stop kissing me so much.” 🙂

Come to think of it, my maternal grandmother, a devout Orthodox Jew, used to nag God out loud when she was exasperated with the way things were going. Best friends do get to grouse at each other, I guess, knowing that it’s all being done in love. So go ahead and grouse — at least to us, if not to God. We take it as a sign of your love.
