All by pure chance? Really?

Jeff Miller, Ph. D. (in biomechanical engineering), was asked how advocates ought to argue the science of Creation before their county school board. This is his answer.

It boils down to the fact that believing in evolution requires at least as much faith as believing in God, and I’m being charitable.
As one former atheist said, “I don’t have enough faith for that.”

Dinesh D’souza was talking about his debate with Richard Dawkins where Dawkins was basically ridiculing the idea of life after death. Dinesh asked him if he had ever been to the other side and come back, and what special insights did he have that none of us had. The answer, of course, was he didn’t. Dinesh said that at least Christians are honest in admitting that there is faith involved in our beliefs, whereas the atheist will never admit that what they believe also requires faith. Because let’s face it, no one was there at the beginning.
We think we have a grasp on reality from what our limited intellect, perceptions, and measly five senses tell us. But when you start looking into quantum physics, you start to realize that we haven’t even scratched the surface on the nature of reality. What is impossible to us is suddenly possible in the quantum realm. So no can definitively say God doesn’t exist. That would require the kind of proof they just can’t provide. One of my favorite quotes is this: “Can you “prove” the existence of God? No. Can you establish strong reasons for believing in the existence of God? Yes. Can an atheist “prove” that God does not exist? No. Can they establish strong reasons for not believing in the existence of God? No.
I dunno–debating Richard Dawkins strikes me as an enterprise akin to arguing with a chair.

Modern scientists dedicate their lives to studying the laws of nature, the complexity of a single cell, and the design of the galaxies and conclude it all happened by chance – now that’s what I call a leap of faith!! I sure hope that person speaking to the school board used a Power Point presentation to help him, otherwise this way of reasoning would be way over their heads 🙂
