‘O, For a Thousand Tongues to Sing’

This is probably as close as we can come to hearing how this hymn sounded in the 18th century, when Charles Wesley wrote it–O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing, performed by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band. Sounded pretty fine, didn’t it?

  1. Thanks, Lee. You’re so right. Maddy Prior seems to have just the right voice and style for the old time hymns. And the timing is great. There’s a Memorial Day parade passing by with fire trucks blasting their unique horns and sirens – turning up Maddy!

  2. Our little village is too small for a parade. My mother was the parade watcher- I never cared enough to go stand in the street and watch people
    go by. Oh well, that’s just me, the fuddy-duddy. I like the song, though.

    1. I’m with you, Erlene. My unfortunate circumstance is that living on a main street with the town park directly across the street makes this area the ‘parade spot’, which brings all the noise, traffic and other problems. The sirens and horns have barely stopped for at least the past 30 minutes. UGH!
