As the ‘Science’ Gets Sillier and Sillier

Are these people quite all there?

Below the disclaimer by MSN and Microsoft, we have an article from The Atlantic entitled “How Do Aliens Solve Climate Change?” (https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/how-do-aliens-solve-climate-change/ar-AAy3Ndh) I will not repeat the exclamation my wife uttered when she discovered it.

As we speak, a group of scientists (LOL) are “mapping out possible histories of alien planets” and “exo-civilizations” in hopes of gaining “insights into what might happen to us” if we continue with our “energy-hungry industrial civilization.” I dunno, it seems there’s something to be said for a civilization that makes food and housing readily available and even gives you air conditioning, to say nothing of toilet paper–but really, should those amenities be provided to us peasants?

How do they study the effects of an imaginary problem, “Man-Made Climate Change,” on something that probably does not exist? I mean, you can’t observe it–right? You can’t do that old-time science thing of studying what’s really there–not if you want to study an alien civilization on another planet.

Not to worry! All you gotta do is “build a simple model for the evolution of a civilization with its planet” and study that. You study something that exists only in your imagination. Sort of like performing a rigorous scientific study of Oz.

Can it get any sillier than this? Aw, studyin’ nature, that’s boring, man! And hard, too! We’d much rather study our own computer models that we made up.

And these people want to control our lives.

  1. Scientism – the religion of making up a theory and building possibilities around it till you come to the conclusion you want.

  2. “I dunno, it seems there’s something to be said for a civilization that makes food and housing readily available and even gives you air conditioning, to say nothing of toilet paper–but really, should those amenities be provided to us peasants?”

Take away all those amenities and the population would decline dramatically, but then that’s what some of them want (ie. Ted Turner).

    1. I leave it to you to imagine my response when Rutgers calls me up to ask for money.

      White liberals–the personification of uselessness.

    2. Reason seems to have escaped – possibly through an open window but more likely through open mouths. (Katie bar the door. They’re comin’ in the windows)

It must be a very different place than it was. What a shame.

    3. He says he “resigns from the white race.” Resignation accepted. Let us know if you can find another race that wants you.

  3. They sure build a lot on “possible histories”. Theoretically, it’s possible that I’m a billionaire, because there are billions of dollars in circulation and somehow they could end up being mine, but if I buy a new Ferrari based on what is merely possible it will be quickly repossessed.

    1. Anything is “possible”, but that doesn’t make it real. These people are making up stories and want us to live by their imagined realities.

    1. They are correct that your intestines have a lot of nerves and have sometimes been called a “second brain”. Other than some autonomous functions related to digestion, I don’t believe that it does much in the way of thinking, but acts more as a group of sensors which send information to the brain.

The article strikes me as foolish and the headline childish. It’s typical of today’s media, presenting information I. The most spectacular manner possible.

    2. Remember, I’m a Coloradan and my state dinosaur is the Stegosaurus. Now the Stego’ (I get to call them that because to me, they are locals) was not the smartest of beasts, and it had a brain in its hips, but it was still a LOT smarter than climbit change scientists, so don’t be insulting my Stego’s. 🙂
