‘Leaning on the Everlasting Arms’

This lovely old hymn from 1887, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms, I first heard in a movie, Night of the Hunter. That wasn’t the most wholesome context for it, but the hymn stayed with me. Here we have it performed by Nathan and Lyle, autoharp and guitar, in a living room in Denton County, Texas. Plus lyrics and chords, if you want to sing or strum along.

  1. This is from my childhood! I love watching the musicians gather on the courthouse lawn on Saturday mornings. Great music and wonderful local talent!

    1. I don’t know them. I’ve met Terry, who administers the site for the Square. She plays with the group who gathers there on Saturday mornings. Do they play there also?
