Happy Cats

It doesn’t take much to make a cat happy. A cuddly human. Tasty food. A toy, a paper bag, a cardboard box. And if all else fails, a cat can always kick his own back feet. I don’t know any human who resorts to this. If you do, we’d love to hear from you.

  1. Can’t go wrong with a bunch of cute kitties. We have three stray kittens that just showed up here, from where I don’t know. They are playing with
my son’s Australian Shepherd pup, stealing her dog food and just generally
    taking over.

  2. That last cat had the most amazing markings. It looked as if many of those clips came from Japan, and I know that the Japanese really pamper their felines.

Three stray kittens, Erline? That sounds like fun.

  3. Yes, they all showed up within a day or two. They are a beautiful calico, a gray and white and a solid black. Lovely cats, but very spooky so far, except for the pup.

    1. All I can say is that I once gave a home to a stray cat and was repaid many times over in love. Cats are smart, and if they realize that they have a good situation, they will respond in a positive manner.

  4. Yes, you are right. The only cat I ever knew who deviated from that pattern was one owned by a daughter in law. That one was really strange.
She would rub against your leg, purr and stand on her hind feet asking for food and for petting, but the moment you reached down to pet her, she would bite you. Never did figure out that cat, just learned to feed her let her in or out and keep hands off.

    1. Cats are easily overstimulated and that is usually what happens when they sometimes bite when they seem to be seeking attention.

    2. Last night at bedtime, Peep took it into her head, for no reason obvious to us, to run full-tilt up and down the bedroom several times. I have to say that stumped me.

    3. They seem to find imaginary activities which allow them to exercise their instincts in a domestic setting.

    4. Somehow, when a cat accepts you and seems to enjoy your company, there’s a feeling of having succeeded and that you measure up to high standards.

  5. Many adorable cats have I, the most honorable Magnanimous Jacksonville. Many dogs, rabbits, snakes, and dragons roam the many halls of my most beautiful mansion in the most picturesque countryside of England, not to mention my thirty-five donkeys, fourty-seven horses, three thousand and fifty-four chickens, and sixty-six hippos. They art my sweetest companions… and my dinner. But my favorite pet of all… is the woodchuck.
Of course the damages caused by him to the oaken furniture and staircases are quite hurtful, but it pleaseth me so well that my little woodchuck gets enough nutrition for his little self.
I will proceed to grant unto thee a little treat: forsooth, I will dictate unto thee, a little poetry about woodchucks…
“How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? He would chuck, he would, as much as he could, and chuck as much wood as a woodchuck would if a woodchuck could chuck wood…”
    YEOUCH!!!

    1. …Thou forgotest to change thy name again!
Wait a minute… WE’VE BEEN SWITCHED!!…and so are the initials of both names!
Well, I guess it’s not everyday that I get to be “interviewed” by a Martian… and I hope it will happen…
      Nevermore…
