It’s a Dog’s Life

If you really, really love flopping around in dirty water, yelling threats at small inanimate objects, running all around without going anywhere, or surfing on the carpet, chances are good that you’re a dog. Or else a highly eccentric individual.

    1. Thank you and God bless you, Erlene. Good to be back 🙂

You and your family are always in my prayers too.

I’ve always been amused by how dogs will bark like crazy at something they see, but do not understand.

Years ago, my dog came running into the house and said, in plain English; “there’s something in the yard you need to see, dad”. Ok, it wasn’t plain English, but his body language told me I needed to go out into the yard and have a look.

Out in my yard, was a harmless little gopher snake. I caught him and released him into some open space, nearby. Not a particularly upsetting event. But a few minutes later the dog came in and told me that our troubles were far from over. I followed him outside and he ran over to the area of the snake sighting and started barking at a dried up leaf, on the ground. Apparently the tree in my back yard could produce gopher-snakelike looking leaves, because this dog was going crazy at the sight of this one leaf.

He looked on in horror as I put all thoughts of personal safety aside and grabbed that dried up leaf with my bare hands. As soon dog realized that there was no real problem he instantly became calm, almost serene. Sometimes it’s easy to be a mi or hero. 🙂
