I find myself puzzled by how tame and flaccid–with a few dramatic exceptions, notably the election of Donald Trump as president–the American people show themselves in the face of brazen campaigns to tear down our culture and turn our country into, well, God knows what.
Does it have anything to do with millions and millions of people thoughtlessly consuming a popular culture that never seems to run out of disgusting innovations? What we like to call our “entertainment”?
Bad enough that public education, owned and operated by the Far Left Crazy teachers’ unions, education theorists, and all sorts of academics a few fries short of a happy meal, force-feeds whole generations of Americans with non-stop lessons in socialism, sexual hyperactivity, self-hatred, and cultivated ignorance. Beyond the schools, the people continue on a lifelong course of passive self-education in the form of “entertainment.”
Can this be why our national politics is increasingly characterized by mob rule, censorship, a raging hatred of any opposition, bizarre court rulings, and speeches made, and policies proposed, that would have been unthinkable, not so long ago? Why people have come out of the woodwork, and taken charge, who would have been very small and quiet, once upon a time?
You know I always say, kill the culture and the culture will kill you back. I think I see that happening now, in our politics. Open borders, transgender “rights”–ideas that are dangerously preposterous, that can’t possibly do anything but hurt us, are routinely offered to us today as a new normal.
Most of us have noticed that the Left–that is, the Democrat Mob Rule Party–is getting crazier and crazier, more and more extravagant in its fantasies, more violent in its tactics, and less and less inhibited in what it will do to get back into power.
Are we truly becoming the kind of people who accept this?
If we are, a great deal of effort has been expended in making us so.
Indeed. Things have come to an awful pass. I hope it’s not too late to turn around.
It is the same old “bread and circuses” that took Rome down, and if that wasn’t a sufficient lesson, then we are doomed to repeat the same mistake, and goodbye nation.
Can you imagine what it would be like if, in our own personal lives, we *never* learned from experience–our own or others’.
Uh, wait, check that–we all know people who never, ever learn from anything.
P.S.–It was also “open borders” that finished off the Roman Empire.
I have bad news and good news. The bad news is 45 incumbent Republican congresspersons have retired so their seats are up for grabs by Democrats (incumbents win reelection 98% of the time). The good news is most of them were Rhinos (Republicans In Name Only) who will seek lucrative salaries in the private sector based on their gov’t connections, and the continued good news is there are Trump Train energetic, enthusiastic men and women who are running for those Congressional seats. Also good news – there is no Blue Wave.
I take solace in that regardless of what the media keep saying, the Dems sure don’t **act** like people who expect to win.
I remember the story of Rumplestiltskin who got so angry when he didn’t get his way that he spun around in circles so “fast and furious” that he dug a hole in the earth and fell through. I can only hope the democrats do the same thing.
All I can say is that I fear a greatly for our nation and our very civilization.
People who once would have been ridden out of town on a fence-rail now tell us what to do.
Yes, things do not look promising at this point. Pray that our God will have mercy in spite of our failures.
In response to both Erlene and Lee; it’s a moral breakdown of culture that we are experiencing. The political nonsense is a symptom, not a cause. With no moral standards, no anchor, we cannot do well, no matter what.
The America of my childhood was a moral country. It wasn’t perfect and there are bad th8ngs happening, but the average person lived up to fairly high standards. That has changed dramatically during the course of my life.
