A feminist has been banned from Twitter for saying a man is not a woman–which, of course, is “transphobic” (https://twitter.com/bindelj/status/1066379996816699394). A gavone commented, “[Y]ou are being inherently transphobic.”
How much more of this do we have to take?
People are not going to “just walk away” from Twitter, because they are addicted to social media and can’t do without it. So, until such time as competing social media platforms are established, that don’t censor you for speaking truth…
Well, we need some anti-trust activity from our executive branch.
Far Left platforms like Twitter and Facebook have a stranglehold on the social media, which have become one of our dominant means of communication. Imagine if the phone company cut off your service because they didn’t like your politics. Would that be allowed? Well, it would if Democrats were running things.
These culprits function as a monopoly in the field of communications, and they need to be taken down a peg.
Meanwhile, it displays the self-evident vacuousness of the “transgender” argument that it can only survive with the aid of viewpoint censorship.
Leftism must be totally destroyed.
The trouble with asking the government to “do something” about a market problem is that once the government takes hold of the market, it becomes the market — and a worse tyrant than the original companies ever were. Once we treat online companies as public utilities, they become subject to government control in everything, including content. So we can talk about “executive action” as a good thing while Trump is President, but what happens when we get another Obama or (gasp) an Ocasio-Cortez?
The social media were originally an answer to the death-grip that the legacy media had on communication. Now we need to work on some new way to break the death-grip that the legacy social-media companies have gained on communication. Barring government control, surely some can-do Americans will come up with something. But asking the government to step in is just asking for trouble.
I had thought of that: but we don’t have a lot of time to solve this problem.
My wife is a big Twitter user and loves Laura Loomer’s tweets but she has been banned for telling the truth about Islam. Loomer is a Jew and has 265,000 followers.
I like to listen to talk show host Michael Savage on the radio when I am coming home on the days that I work. Today, he announced he is being taken off the radio after 20 years of pleading for Language, Borders, & Culture to save America from her enemy the political Left. Savage has one of the largest listening audiences but the higher-up owners don’t like his politics.
This is why I think some anti-trust action is called for. Far Left Crazy thinks it can own us by owning our means of communication.
I agree; as bad as the situation is, government involvement will only make matters worse.
I don’t think we can afford to wait for social media competition to become firmly rooted. If Democrats EVER get back in power, they will never leave.
Well, that’s pretty much why I wouldn’t want to see government get involved in regulating social media. Once the Democrats take control, there’ll be no other options, and trying to go outside the government’s control will be punishable under the law. (What law, you ask? Don’t worry; they’ll come up with an agency to make the laws.)
