Patty found this anti-coyote warning and thought you should see it, too.

  1. Hilarious! But maybe a little dangerous, i.e., people thinking the whole warning is just a joke?

    1. I’ve never heard of a healthy adult (there we go again!) human being attacked by a coyote. But of course that doesn’t mean it has never happened.
      All of what I’d heard about wolves in North America never attacking people… turned out to be totally, hopelessly wrong.

    3. As coyotes move back into the East, they’ve begun to eat people’s cats and small dogs, lambs, etc. Here in my hometown–and it’s suburbs, no wilderness–coyotes have bagged a couple of deer.
      But it’s always a good idea to keep your cats indoors.

  2. I loved the one about ACME. Only Road Runner cartoon fans would get that one. For those unfamiliar with the reference, Wily Coyote was always plotting to croak the Roadrunner (a really fast, rascally bird) using dynamite delivered by the ACME company. Roadrunner always deilghtfully outsmarted him.
    My daughter used to work for an owner-operated small company called Acme Packet in Burlington, Mass. The conference rooms were named after the characters in the cartoon, The company was then purchased by Oracle, a worldwide corporation. I don’t know whether they still use ACME titles.
    It was quite a while ago. If I have my facts wrong, feel free to straighten me out.

  3. Those varmints are ubiquitous in these parts. I’ve known of cases where pets were lost to them and they are the chief reason my cat remains indoors, all the time. At one time, they were limited to the most remote regions, but restrictions on controlling their population have “blessed” us with their presence in populated areas. They are dangerous, a nuisance and a threat.

    I recently encountered one on a bike ride and he stood his ground. They are canines, but they aren’t domestic dogs. Hopefully, someday, they will be brought back under control.

    1. Once upon a time, the idea of wild coyotes in New Jersey–heck, right here in this down!–would have been greeted with derision.

    2. When I was a kid, coyotes were something we saw out west, and only is wide open spaces. I’m not inconsiderate of animals, but when they become a hazard we need to defend ourselves and protect our communities.

    3. They seem to be extending their range into human-occupied territory. When Canada geese do that, you need to buy galoshes. When coyotes do it, it’s a bigger problem.

    4. Perhaps something is going on that we aren’t aware of. There are all sorts of theories on the sequence of events as God takes matters into His hands and prepares for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
