In addition to being a disaster, Hurricane Katrina, lo those many years ago, was notable for the astonishing number of untrue stories that came out of it.
Untrue news stories, “reported” by alleged professionals.

Oh, how they longed for that stadium to be filled with dead bodies! How they licked their lips with anticipation, as they waited to “report” that half the people in New Orleans had drowned!
The term “fake news” hadn’t yet been coined, back then. But fake news abounded. Along with fake reporters.
Everything on TV is entertainment. The somber three days of non-stop coverage after Kennedy was killed was a tiny bit of news, Kennedy shot, Kennedy died, Oswald arrested, Oswald shot, Ruby arrested, and very little else. The rest was filler, endless hours of nothing. It was very sad entertainment, but it was just that, a way to fill the hours until the culminating event, the state funeral.
Since then, it’s only gotten worse.
My most vivid memory of that is Charles DeGaulle and Haile Selassie saluting the president at graveside.
I recall Shepard Smith reporting for Fox News Channel on a bridge covered with people who were stranded, and calling out where was the federal government. Then the next scene was showing a huge fleet of school buses standing in high water that were never used to evacuate people (many of whom refused to leave).
Brian Williams is so fool of it
Freudian slip? 🙂
How so? Might be missing something…
That’s it. 🙂
=)
LOL! I see I wrote “fool” of it instead of “full” of it lol good eye
