I love the way liberals think, if that’s what you want to call it. Yesterday we read about an op ed in the, ahem, New York Times (blocked from reading the article itself) by some yo-yo who bragged about raising her daughters to believe there’s no such thing as sin, and not even to use the word.
Yeah, yeah: “My family life sucked, therefor the family is bad and it takes a village to raise a child. And my marriage sucks, therefor marriage is outmoded and bad and needs to be radically transformed.” You can think of as many examples of this as I can. And if they all lead back to Hillary Clinton, I can’t help it. I’d rather they led back to Victor Borge. Then we’d at least get a laugh.
One reels in awe of Ms. Op Ed’s towering simple-mindedness, at the vastness of her un-awareness. Like, what’s she gonna say when she catches one of her daughters, now aged 12, say, stealing money out of mama’s pocketbook? It wouldn’t be natural–although libs do “unnatural” better than anyone–for her not to say anything. “What the dickens are you doing in my pocketbook! Get your hands out of there!”
And what’s she gonna say when the kid asks, “Why?”
“Because it’s wrong!”
“What’s wrong about it?”
Well, mama can’t resort to “Thou shalt not steal,” can she? Not without forfeiting all the thumbs-ups awarded her by atheists. The best she can do is, “Because I said so!”, which has satisfied no child since time began; or, more honestly, “Because I’ll wale the tar out of you if you do!” And we fall back on how humanists organize society. Whoever has the keys to the gulag gets to make the rules.

All you have to do is look at the Soviet Union and their experiment with Communism. They also got rid of notions of God, sin, and good and evil, and as a result millions died. That is the culmination of such thinking.

And yet the leftists themselves have a long list of sins, to wit: racism, sexism, classism, ableism, homophobia, xenophobia, transphobia, Islamophobia, MAGA hats, and so on. I used to challenge some of my colleagues to explain to me in what sense these things (minus the MAGA hats, which hadn’t been invented yet) were wrong if there are no moral absolutes, and they just “Oh, Phoebe’d” me, since of course there was no way they could answer the question.
Yeah, that’s the question–what makes things right or wrong?
Another question–if there’s your truth and my truth, how come your truth is always truer than mine?
The Left will never defend their positions with facts & evidence (unless they are using lying facts, which are no facts at all). They argue from feelings “It’s not fair” as if they are the sole arbitrators of fairness. I wish that AOC screwball of a Congresswoman would take a trip to African & Asian countries and see how most people in the world have to live. That woman needs a wake-up call.
Y’know what? She’d come back from that trip saying, “This is what we want for America!”
If you pare it back to the essentials, it comes down to one thing, symbolized by the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Bad. Who decides what is good and what is bad. If you look around us, the abilities of humans at doing this are, at best, miserable, and, at worst, disasterous.
I’m thinking of another tree, too–the poison tree, which can yield only poison fruit.
