But it was scientific!

Too many people have been brought up to regard “science” as infallible. For some reason, fully accepting the teachings of the Bible, and believing whole-heartedly in its message, raises eyebrows; but unquestioning faith in “science” doesn’t.

Except that today’s “settled science” is tomorrow’s quaint superstition.

Today’s Settled Science

Phlogiston, miasma theory, and eugenics–once upon a time, you were a heretic or even a dangerous crackpot if you questioned any of these.

Which aspects of our “science” will they be laughing at in 2070?

  1. If the present world even exists that far out. It is becoming ridiculously unbelievable even now. My prayer is, please come back, Lord, and set things upright again.

  2. Nutrition “science” is always “settled,” too … for about five years, after which the nutrition experts change everything around and say that what they once said was bad for you is really good for you, and what was good for you is really bad for you.

    1. I remember, back in the seventies, when they decided we needed lots and lots of carbs and fewer fats. Forty years later, obesity is a raging epidemic, diabetes is afflicting more of the population than even and now they have reversed themselves.

    2. It’s like studying swordsmanship. One teacher says, “Never do this,” and the next one says, “Always do it.”
Heck–once upon a time, radium and mercury were supposed to be good things to ingest. Science said so.

    3. Yep, you can find an “expert” to confirm any opinion you want to promote.
