Besieged by Kittens

If you were the mother cat, would you go down there with all those kittens? It looks like they could wear you out in a hurry.

This reminds me of a mouse I had, whose babies had decided they were not going to be weaned and she’d better keep on nursing them, or else. She would up sitting on top of the water bottle, where they couldn’t get to her, and chattering angrily at them to cool it.

It’s okay, they all grew up to be pretty good mice.

    1. One of my mice had nine babies. To make it easier to take care of them equally, she divided them into three groups of three, nested them in three different places, and made regular rounds.

I’ve known high school juniors who couldn’t have come up with that.

  1. Hello Mr. Duigon,
I was reading Numbers 10 the other night, and I was wondering, did you base The Silver Trumpet on Numbers 10:2-3?

2 Make thee two trumpets of silver: of an [a]whole piece shalt thou make them, that thou mayest use them for the assembling of the Congregation, and for the departure of the camp.
3 And when they shall blow with them, all the Congregation shall assemble to thee, before the door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation.

You know, the trumpet it blown and everybody has to assemble…

    1. No–but I’ll tell you that there are two passages that inform the whole series: Joel 2:28-32 (“I will pour out my spirit on all flesh”), and 1 Corinthians 1: 17-31). No Bell Mountain books without those verses from the Bible.

    2. That’s pretty awesome! I know a lot of filmmakers that do a similar thing. They’ll get a verse and base an entire film on it. For A Tangled Web an idea just popped in my head, and after I had half of the script written my brother asked me if it was based on a verse, and I thought about it, and we came up with Proverbs 26:27, so that is what it is based on. But we don’t want to do that again, where we think of the story before the message. So for our next film we decided on a passage that it would be based on, before we started the script.

  2. My granddaughter received this book yesterday, on her birthday, and she is busily reading it and loving it.
