  2. I read an interesting commentary about the blind man in Mark. It pointed out that the blind man was actually healed twice. The first was a physical healing. Eye that weren’t working, suddenly are. However, someone who is blind from birth would not be able to interpret what he saw; hence, men are “like trees”. There are simply no associations between what the eyes see and the brain interprets. The second healing was one of the mind, that allowed him to see men as men, and trees as trees.

    I think many of us need that second healing, more than the first! Especially in our current, twisted, upside down culture that sees good as evil, and evil as good.

    1. Our Lord, of course, didn’t leave the job only half-done. But that’s a very vivid incident, “I see men as trees walking,” doesn’t seem at all like anything that anyone in the First Century would have invented as fiction.
