Our Mission Statement

Thanks to a comment made by Heidi this morning, I’ve been thinking about how to define the purpose of this blog. It was originally set up to promote my Bell Mountain books and hopefully stir up sales; but it has since grown into something more.

It’s not something I set out to do on purpose; it just sort of happened. Much of the credit goes to you, the readers. Together we have done enough to give birth to a mission statement. And here it is. Here’s what this blog is supposed to do.

Provide a place for Christian fellowship, including the posting of hymns, hymn requests, prayer requests, reblogs of posts on other Christian blogs, and Bible study. I love it when readers get to talking to each other. Nor do you have to be a Christian to be allowed in: the door is open to you, too. It’s important for us to comfort, encourage, counsel, inspire, and teach one another.

Praise the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, and the works of God the Creator, proclaim the Lordship of Christ, and assert His crown rights as the King of kings.

Outreach. This blog is a small part of the larger ministry of the Chalcedon Foundation.

Provide opposition to, and skepticism for, the pretensions of secular humanism–the climate change cult, Darwinism, transgender, and all the rest of those Really Smart Ideas that are actually abominable and stupid. The highest card in their hand is their claim to being vastly more intelligent than ordinary people–a claim that must be regularly and vigorously challenged. They deserve to be satirized, and I try to provide that. Hence Joe Collidge.

Provide good humor, pleasant memories, and fun. A good laugh is the gift of God. So is a happy memory. Hence features like “Oy, Rodney” and Memory Lane. And the comment contests, the quokkas, etc.

And yes, I’m still trying to promote my books along the way.

Anyway, that’s our mission–and we’re doing it together.

  1. Apparently, God planned this mission for you when you weren’t looking. He’s done much good through you.

  2. ‘Nuff said! I’m glad I found your blog. I think it was through NewsWithViews.

  3. I slept so well last night……I knew God stays awake and would always watch out for me.

  4. Excellent article. Here is my report with the help of a local School Education Director.

Do you have any more ideas before this is sent out?

    Sex Education in our Schools

    October 12, 2019

    Folks:

Today, I want to talk about Sex Education but first where do you think our children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews get their sex education? Maybe from parents, friends, school, church or on the job training.

Eighty-two percent of parents have talked to their children about topics related to sexuality, according to a new released poll. However, when it comes to tougher, more complicated topics, many adolescents are not getting the support they need to delay sex and prevent pregnancy. This new finding underscores the importance of Octobers’ Lets Talk Month, which encourages parents to talk to their children about sex and sexual health. (See website below).

    Book – Its Only Normal

I attended a meeting recently and a Minnesota State Representative who was explaining the very vivid sexual pictures that are included in a book entitled, “Its Only Normal” that was attempted to be introduced for children as young as 10 years of age.

Here is an 8-minute video that describes the book. Fortunately, the bill was defeated. Hopefully, you will be able to listen to his description on this website.

This book is promoted by Planned Parenthood and he is also listed on their website. The book also describes abortion and you can understand why it is being promoted by this organization. Here are just some of listings of the illustrations in the book.

    PAGE SUBJECT
8 Who you are – straight, homosexual, etc
    9 Anal & Oral Sex
    43 Masturbation is Normal
    52 Vaginal Sex
    71 Abortion

I did a quick research and found the book in the libraries of 7 of the 8 major cities in our country.

I know that sex education is very important in our schools because you can look at the number of teenage pregnancies and we question what are they learning?

    Planned Parenthood

Attached is a link to a two-page document prepared by Lee Duigon, who is an author and he is what he as to say.
Planned Parenthood has done it again. In the cause of “sex education,” it has imposed on the families of Waco, Texas, a nasty little book entitled It’s Perfectly Normal. The book is the text for a program called “Nobody’s Fool,” intended for grades 5–9, children 9–14 years old. [For more information about “Nobody’s Fool,” see the American Life League website, all.org.]
Planned Parenthood — which gobbles up millions of taxpayer dollars every year — has programs like “Nobody’s Fool” all over the country. It’s Perfectly Normal probably can be found in your local public library. If you’re in denial about what’s being taught in the public schools today, you need to study this book. If your library doesn’t have it, your library can get it for you from another library.
The American Life League website has a section on how to oppose Planned Parenthood and how to drive it out of your school district. Find out whether Planned Parenthood has infested your local schools; then learn how to combat it. You might also consider withdrawing your children from the public schools altogether.
    Edina Minnesota School District

I had a chance to visit with Edina Minnesota Director of Teaching and Learning.
who gave me some very important information about what his school system is doing on the subject. The learning begins at age 10.
We talked for about 30 minutes about the subject in the Edina school system. The Minnesota Department of Education sets academic standards for sex education in the schools and they are reviewed every 10 years.
The standards are to be adopted by the School District but local staff determine what materials to purchase and how to deliver the standards. For example, in grade four, there is a segment called, “Family Life and Sexuality”
Sexual education is introduced in the elementary schools at the fourth-grade level and is unlike the information that is presented in the book entitled, “It’s Perfectly Normal”.
According to Edina School District policy, parents have a choice and can opt out of the curriculum that their children are learning. At times, the staff are challenged with serving a wide range of families with diverse perspectives on the topic of sex education. However, children must be informed and given the information so that that they can remain safe and make the best-informed decisions possible.
The curriculum can be adopted by the School District local staff and they use their staff to help coordinate the program.

The Minnesota Department of Education has a health curriculum which they prepare for each district. In grade four, there is a segment called, “Family Life and Sexuality”

Parents have a choice and can opt out of the sexual instructions of that their children are getting. Unfortunately, the staff must walk a tight line because some parents would disagree no matter what type of education is provided for their children. The children must be informed and given the information so that that they will understand the consequences of their decisions related to sex.

    Teenage Pregnancy

In 2017, a total of 194,377 babies were born to women aged 15–19 years, for a birth rate of 18.8 per 1,000 women in this age group. This is another record low for U.S. teens and a drop of 7% from 2016. Birth rates fell 10% for women aged 15–17 years and 6% for women aged 18–19 years.
    Super Hero Kids
The Edina Minnesota Rotary funded a program called “Super Hero Kids”, which was presented in Edina elementary schools in the fall of 2019. Parents were able to preview the program ahead of time and positive parent feedback was received after the presentations. This program attempts to teach young children not only improper touching of others as well as preventing of human trafficking.
Rotary’s Anti-Trafficking Task Force continues forging valuable partnerships. They are gaining momentum – in the name of prevention. The Super Hero Kids Foundation is a local nonprofit which gifts assault and safety prevention programs to schools and nonprofits.

Formed in June 2017, the Foundation raises funds to deliver empowering that’s uniquely designed for each stage of independence, from pre-K through college-age students. Thanks to the collaboration within the Twin City metro area Rotary chapters, more students have been able to receive life-changing training.
    Teenage Sex
A 2011 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) survey indicates that more than 47 percent of all high school students say they have had sex, and 15 percent of high school students have had sex with four or more partners during their lifetime. Among students who had sex in the three months prior to the survey, 60 percent reported condom use and 23 percent reported birth control pill use during their last sexual encounter.

    1. “It’s Only Normal” is an evil and pestilent book that has been mentioned here once or twice.

Thank you, Harry, for an informative post; thank you for sounding the alarm. I guess we have to keep on sounding it until they listen.
