Why do leftids always hate their country? I expect it’s because doing so makes them feel virtuous.
The happy hormads next door used to have a home-made sign that said “Patriotism=Scoundrels.” In this, the golden age of unfettered travel, it beats me why they stay here. Certainly America doesn’t need them.
Yeahbut, yeahbut! A World State, man! No borders! Wouldn’t that be great?
No, it wouldn’t.
One thing I find troubling is that people will choose someone as a visionary and conveniently forget that this person has merely talked about their vision for the future, but hasn’t actually made it happen.
John Lennon’s song, Imagine, still is a rallying cry for many of the Left, but the world is much more divided now than it was 49 years ago, when that song was first released. Lennon had goals, but no way of achieving them.
Another example of misplaced trust in a visionary is the fascination that has built up around Nikola Tesla. Tesla believed that there was electrical energy available in the atmosphere, free for the taking. I’m certain that there is, but no one has ever demonstrated a practical way to gather this energy and put it to use. Tesla had a notion, but he had no method.
At Babel, the population of the earth was dispersed and various traits developed in various places. The Table of Nations, laid out in Genesis 10 describes the various people groups, while Genesis 11 tells us how and why they were dispersed.
The existence of nations, is not in itself a problem. As long as everyone involved realizes that all sovereignty resides with the Father, it’s quite possible to have peace in such circumstances. But here’s the key, the Bible provides a method for achieving this. It is through the application of God’s sovereignty, earthwide, that this will happen. We don’t have to “imagine” that; the bill was paid with Christ’s death we can see how events foretold in scripture have come to pass.

What’s hard to imagine is the mental landscape of anyone who thinks “Imagine” is a piece of wisdom. It’s a piece of something, all right.

Actually, that “Imagine” song usually reminds me of Lewis Carroll’s Alice being told by the White Queen to close her eyes and draw a long breath in order to believe something impossible. When Alice says no one can do that, the White Queen tells her it takes practice: “Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” Imagine…. 🙂
For some guy as rich as ^%$#ing Croesus to be crooning “imagine no possessions” always gets my dander up.
Ever notice that the people advocating no possessions already have more then enough. They can’t begin to understand the needs of people who have little, if anything to spare.

Reminds me of Hillary Clinton calling us deplorables when in fact she was the deplorable one. They always project unto us their bad qualities. You should have had a sign that said “Proud Scoundrel”.

If anything this current pandemic exposes the problem with globalism and having no borders. Imagine if there were no borders to close off? No wonder it has spread so quickly through the European Union where it’s so easy to travel from one country to another. It has also reveals the problems of depending on other nations for goods and supplies. A world state is like dominoes, when one falls they all fall.
Leftist elite nincompoops only want a world state because they think they’ll be running it.
To my embarrassment, I was much the same at one point in my life. My excuse is, I was a teenager being indoctrinated in high school (and this was before the indoctrination got bad!). I eventually grew out of it. The real world has a tendency to do that to people. Unfortunately, we’ve got a couple of generations now that have yet to experience the real world, even as adults.
Me, too–but we grew out of it. I wish I could say everybody else did, too.
The Left believe man is basically good, he just needs that right environment which they are happy to create. When America is compared to other countries she comes out pretty well, but when compared to utopia she doesn’t. The life of a Leftist is a life of continual frustration and unhappiness.
Plus they’re idiots.
