Jesus Raises Lazarus (from ‘The Greatest Story Ever Told’)

I like to post this every Easter: the scene from The Greatest Story Ever Told in which Christ raises Lazarus from the dead. (“Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto Him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.” –John 11:39)

Along with the Scriptures themselves, and the testimony of John the Baptist and the apostles, the works that Jesus did bear witness that He is indeed the Son of God, Savior and Messiah, King of kings and Lord of lords.

We believe!

  1. “or did you come to see da mourners.” Boy did they miscast her character.
The actress’ voice is that of a whiny college student. Nevertheless, I loved the movie and this is still one of my favorite parts.

  2. The gospel story truly is the greatest story ever told, and by our continuing to tell it many come into Christ’s kingdom – now that is a power from beyond the grave! I was melancholy this Easter Sunday after our church service – only eight of us were in attendance. And although we sang our heats out and it was beautiful, I couldn’t help but compare it to all the Easter services of the past with a full house, a trumpeter accompanying the organist, and the choir’s special song. May this pandemic be short-lived and means for treating it be perfected.
