Well, the storm has kicked in, I can’t go out and write, I’m lucky if the computer works for ten minute sat a stretch… and I don’t feel like writing up any nooze.
So let’s have some fun instead!
What’s your favorite scene or incident in the Bell Mountain books? With twelve of them in print, you’ve got a lot to choose from. And now that I’ve brought up the question, I’m very curious about what the answer will be.
Well, yeah, you have to have read the books to play this game. If you haven’t, well, they’re easy enough to get. Hopefully a lot of you have read some or all of the books in the series. [Offstage: tuneless whistling]
Yes, I’m looking for a clamorous reader response! I really want to know what your favorite scenes are. It’s a wise writer who listens to his readers.
For me, my favorite scene will always be the climax of Book No. 1, Bell Mountain, when the bell finally rings and what happens when it does. I hope that’s not a spoiler.
Anyway, there, I’ve started the ball rolling and I can’t wait to see what all of you have to say.

My favorite scene is very early in book one, when Jack first decides to go ring that bell. Partly, it resonates with an experience in my early life, where the view from in front of my parents house, ended with a hill, somewhere around 1/2 mile away. From my earliest memories, I wanted to see what was on the other side of that hill. It was a juvenile obsession which held me in its grip until my father drove me to the top of that hill and I could see that there was a broad valley, and a horizon a mile or so, created by yet another hill. Instantly, my obsession was replaced with an obsession with what was on the other side of that hill. And I’ve been looking to see what was on the other side of some hill, or another, literal or figurative.
Way to go Jack. Sometimes our passions can bring about good effects.
My favorite scene in the series is the climax of Bell Mountain Book 4: The Last Banquet.
The climax of Book 1 comes close second!
I have a song suggestion: Carroll Roberson, “He’s Still God”. I can’t really think of a favorite in any of the books, but there are many.
The computer is just not letting me do this. Every two minutes or so I lose my Internet connection. I’ll keep trying. *sigh*

I think it’s the best thing I ever wrote. But that’s just me.
My favorite scene was when Ellayne’s scream caused the avalanche which killed the Thunder King. And the section of those trying to retrieve the gold buried under the snow was very captivating.
