Beware! High-Level Cuteness

I think God put baby rabbits and a lot of other animals in the world to keep us from going insane. I can just feel my blood pressure going down as I watch this. Thank you, Lord. We wouldn’t have thought of it, but you did.

Cats & Dogs & Babies, Perfect Together

If Tarzan had been raised by cats or dogs rather than by manlike killer apes, he might have turned out a bit cuddlier.

Dig the babies who’ve already figured out how to enlist a dog or cat in a scheme to get rid of unwanted food.

Cats & Puppies

It’s a wise cat who prudently teaches a puppy who’s boss. Some pups learn faster than others. And some cats teach better than others. But woe unto the cat who stinks at this!

Gee, it’s been a long time since I’ve been mobbed by a whole litter of puppies… But I think humans like that better than cats do.

Sweet Lambs

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the only pet mentioned in the Bible was the poor man’s little ewe lamb, in Nathan’s parable to David, which “was unto him as a daughter” (2 Samuel 12: 1-7). And of course the story wouldn’t have made any sense unless people in ancient Israel sometimes kept a favorite lamb as a pet.

I’ve never had a little lamb, but it’s easy to see the appeal. I wonder if they can be housebroken.

How to Bathe a… Sloth

If you’re one of many people thinking of opening a sloth grooming parlor, pay especially close attention to this video. Note that the little guy’s patience wears rather thin if he’s not allowed to cling to his stuffed toy. This can be avoided by getting the stuffed toy soaking wet and not washing or drying those parts of the sloth that were pressed tightly to the toy. Be sure to invent some convincing lies to tell dissatisfied customers.

Eccentric Pets & Other Critters

Actually, the most eccentric characters in this video are the humans who let a bear into their house. It seems very unwise.

But there’s also the dog who feeds bunnies (and a piglet, and a duck) instead of eating them, and a grey goose who feeds his friends–a whole bunch of fish. These are glimpses into the renewal of Creation: when God says, “Behold, I make all things new.”

‘Never Underestimate the Power of an Old Lady’ (2016)

How we long to see certain parties get their just rewards! And when it happens–as it does in this video–it’s golden.

Betcha this guy thinks twice, the next time he feels like trying to scare an old lady into moving faster.

Happy Cats

It doesn’t take much to make a cat happy. A cuddly human. Tasty food. A toy, a paper bag, a cardboard box. And if all else fails, a cat can always kick his own back feet. I don’t know any human who resorts to this. If you do, we’d love to hear from you.

Hi-Tech for Pets

I wonder how a reasonably intelligent person from the 10th century would respond to some of today’s hi-tech toys. Do all cats and dogs go wild over iPads, or is it just a few? And how long do you get to torment the lizard with fake bugs before he turns around and bites you?

Ah, well–as paratroopers used to say, it’s foolish but it’s fun.

Funky Critters

Cats tackle the tightest cardboard boxes on the slickest floors. A dachshund turns into–I dunno: a snake? An earthworm? And off in a world of their own, a scouting party of guinea pigs encounters… a baby.

Imagine how poor we’d be without our animals!
