I find the story of Messi very heartwarming. As I understand it, they saw him in a petting zoo and a bond formed between Messi and Alexander. That was over 8 years ago, and they’ve lived under the same room ever since. Call it love, or whatever you wish to call it, that bond is undeniable. Messi has never lashed out to his caretakers, and behaves almost like a dog, most of the time. BTW, Messi is wary of dogs; at least dogs that bark at him.
He did go through dog obedience training, successfully and was patient with the dogs in his class, including a puppy who wanted to chew on his tail. I’ve watched a lot of I Am Puma videos, and I am endlessly amazed by how gentle Messi is. He can be wary of strangers, but is for the most part curious and receptive to visitors.
The same couple also has a Cheetah, who lives in an enclosure. The Mountain Lion and the Cheetah are on friendly terms, but they have a different style of play, and don’t quite understand one another. However, in a video released just this morning, Geerda the Cheetah actually licked Messi’s face.
We live in a fallen world, and things are not as our Maker intended. When creation was finished, God pronounced it all “very good”, and it was until sin entered the picture. When all is restored, peace between all animals and humans will be ubiquitous, and animals will be at peace with one another. As Lee so often suggested, videos, such as those about Messi are a glimpse of what lies ahead.
It is so true! We see these wonderful glimpses of what could and will be.
I am convinced that creation will be restored to that “very good” state. We won’t be in a state of enmity with any wildlife.
That will be wonderful.
… and essential.
