A So-So Day

I didn’t accomplish a heck of a lot today.  Some things that had to be addressed–the final payment to Lee’s credit card (which took forever for Chase to generate), writing the rent check, clearing up what I call diddly-stuff.  The weather (as usual) turned gray and lousy toward mid afternoon.

And now the media is doing their typical fear mongering about the new strain of flu (the worst EVER).  I just don’t believe anything anymore.  At least NOT what is being peddled in the papers and online.  It must give them all kinds of thrills to scare people.

Truth is getting harder and harder to find (outside of Scripture).

By the way, has anyone noticed that there is a real shortage of lamb? I always had lamb at least once a week and it has become very hard to find. None at Shoprite, very little at Whole Foods.

Well that’s about it for now.

Stay safe and warm

God bless everybody.

  1. Fortunately, you got it done. Coincidentally, I paid my credit card bills yesterday, closed out my banking spreadsheet for the year 2025 and prepped my 2026 spreadsheet. When I ran my IT department, I kept a spreadsheet of every expenditure, grouped by each line item in my budget. Eventually. It occurred to me to create a similar spreadsheet for my banking and I use the last year’s actual data to help me project costs. For the upcoming year, so I don’t forget about insurance renewals or that sort of thing.

I noticed the picture, of whom I assume is Peep.

  2. There’s nothing quite like the love of a cat, and I am thoroughly convinced that many animals have the capacity for love.

I pay my bills directly from my bank, which is quite convenient. My spreadsheet has projected costs and I break each month into two parts, and pay off my credit cards twice a month, just to keep things from getting out of control, and so I can respond faster to unexpected expenses that arise. It works, and I at least have some idea of what to expect.

  3. We did a bunch of diddly-stuff to get ready for the New Year. In Arkansas we had the driest December in history. All that global-warming weather we are having is enjoyable, but burn bans are not good for the Ozark and Boston Mountains.
