A Static-Free Telephone!!

The telephone man was supposed to come between 8 and 12 noon today.

Around  one o’clock I called and was told that yes, the ticket had been generated and he would be here.  I nipped out to the store around 2:15 as I didn’t want to get stuck in the school traffic.  I live around the corner from one school and across the street from another, and it gets pretty bad around then with cars and parents, etc.

They got here around 3.  ( I notice that now, with any sort of tradesmen coming, they always come in pairs.)  I guess that is to stop some nut from accusing them of bad behavior.  It seems pretty universal now (the traveling in pairs, not the accusations).  Or maybe both.

They were done in less than 15 minutes.  They installed a new filter to separate the internet from the phone and tightened the wires in the back of the phone.

I couldn’t believe my ears.  No static, no background crackling–nada.  I realized then just how bad that phone had become.

It was well-worth waiting for.
