Juan Guaido: survive and win, or fail and die

Venezuela’s “socialist” dictatorship, founded by the late and unlamented Hugo Chavez and continued by his sock puppet Maduro, complete with a ruined economy and people scrounging for food in unlikely places, like zoos, has been rocked by riots this week and may be on the verge of going belly-up (https://www.apnews.com/52bb7f774bc94f439df0606eb96bab4e).

The United States is backing opposition leader Juan Guaido, who will either survive and win, or fail and die. Guaido has declared himself president. Maduro, backed by Russia, China, Iran, and other international bad guys, says he’s going nowhere. Some of Venezuela’s top generals have pledged their loyalty to Maduro. Why does that remind me of George Steinbrenner saying “Bucky Dent is like a son to me” just before he traded him?

A Prediction: If Maduro is overthrown, watch for wailing and gnashing of teeth among the American Left–aka the Democrat Party, Hollywood, and the nooze media. They’ll say President Trump connived to oust their favorite left-wing dictator and redouble their efforts to oust our president. They’re going to carry on like maniacs.

You’ve got to give the villains credit: they stick together.

  1. The villains have to stand together. They share one brain among them and once loose screw falls out, they’re in deep s…wamp. With the “we want war” countries on his side, Maduro is “selected” to win. Venezuelans are too weak from hunger to surprise anyone with a Guaido landslide. If the economy went belly up, the people would eat that too. They do that here in the US. But what do I know about that kind of hunger…yet.

    1. A military takeover can lead to even worse conditions and problems. It could be quite a power struggle with the people still in the middle even with Maduro gone. But maybe not?

  2. Most all countries followed America’s suit in endorsing Guaido who was unanimously backed by their legislature, except Russia, China, Turkey, & Mexico – all authoritarian countries, and all Hollywood & Lefties favorites.

    1. It’s amazing to see these countries support a dictator while the people are suffering. I know someone living in Venezuela and I hear firsthand the hardships they are going through. These countries should be ashamed of themselves.
I don’t know much about this Guaido guy. I’ve read he was a centrist, and still not right enough for my taste. Still, he does seem to favor less government control, and at this point anyone is better than Maduro.

    2. Yea, an actual conservative president in Latin America is rarer than a Bigfoot sighting. But true, with the highest inflation in the world I don’t see how he could do much worse. Of course Maduro is not giving up power willingly. Guaido is interim-president in name only.

    3. Meanwhile here at home, Democrats are looking for a way to oust America’s duly elected president. Hollywood loved Hugo Chavez. And they’d trade Trump for Maduro in a heart-beat.
