Did Wife’s Witchery Make Tom Brady a Champion?

Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen in epic fight: sources

Witch way did they go?

[Thanks to Susan for the nooze tip]

Welcome aboard the culture rot express, ladies and gentlemen!

Tom Brady’s won seven Super Bowls. How did he do it? Lots and lots of fanatical hard work and practice, plus a really good team behind him? Well, all right–a little. But he also had a secret weapon.

His wife’s a witch. Or so he says.

Oh, forsooth, this is degrading. The guy says his supermodel ex-wife, Gisele Bundchen, could see into the future and tell him exactly what he’d have to do to win. He says he had “specialty necklaces” and “little altars” and “special stones” to help him along, “and I say all these mantras” that she tells him to say.

And you thought Wade Boggs was superstitious for eating chicken for every meal for years.

We don’t ask our sports heroes to be philosophers; but that doesn’t stop some of them from trying. We don’t expect our sages and philosophers to throw touchdown passes and aren’t disappointed when they don’t. So why do we need athletes to tell us how to live? Wouldn’t we esteem them just as much if all they did was excel at their sports? Do they want so much more, that they have to marry supermodels and dabble in silly pop-culture witchcraft?

(Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio… ?)

  1. It’s a sign of the times when you can openly admit your wife is a witch without fearing any social stigmatism.

    1. True. If you want to watch something interesting, watch high school basketball playoffs. Those kids really put their heart into it.
