Still recovering from surgery, our friend and brother Mike has asked for prayers: he’s come down with another painful infection, he says (please don’t go to that surgeon ever again, Michael).
O Lord our God! Be good to your servant, Michael, who’s trying to recover from surgery and having a hard time of it. All healing comes from you, O God; please heal our brother. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Yes, and amen. All healing does come from the Lord Jesus, our Healer, and we are depending upon you only for complete healing for Mike and we trust that healing will be done with perfection. AMEN

I thank all of you for your prayers.
I believe God can heal. But at times, the reasons He doesn’t heal are known only to Him. If He healed everyone all the time, no one would die. And you would get phone calls like this. “Jane, we need to pray for aunt Sue again. She is now 405 years old, but God healed her the last 469 times we prayed for her over the years.” Yeah, it now seems she is just about to die every few months, now that she is getting so old. Let’s pray once again for healing.”
Remember, there is an appointed time of death for everyone.
Here, sometimes you have no choice, you take the surgeon that is available. The first time, it was surgery or a painful death, and there was only one surgeon that could do the surgery. Is this infection his fault, or was it the hospital’s fault (many other folks took care of me during and after the surgery), well, maybe, but people die all the time during and after surgery for many reasons. I just go with the best care and doctors and surgeons I can find here. And if the Lord takes me home, I am ready to go. It would be a welcome relief.

Mike, I’ll be praying for you in church this morning. I pray not just for physical healing but also for comfort and consolation in your suffering, resting in the arms of Jesus.
