I post this now and then because it keeps on being true–and our (ahem!) “conservatives” act like culture doesn’t matter. Which is why they don’t matter, either.
No, Ms/Mr Conservative–you can’t just keep on debasing the culture without it turning around and swallowing you whole. If there’s one thing that history really does teach us, it’s that states, countries, cultures, and whole civilizations are distressingly mortal. They can die. They can destroy themselves.
And it always starts with culture rot.
It certainly does matter. If we allow it to be destroyed, we certainly will regret it.
Sadly, many current conservatives aren’t willing to take a stand.

Debasing a country’s culture is the way communism weakens a country before it takes it over by force. In America it does it by endless regulations – plus flood society with pornography and drugs, etc.
